baking with booze: the Schnapps edition!
This is an unconventional twist on two of Austria’s most classic desserts: the Apfelstrudel and the Mohntorte.
Think: caramelized and spiced apples mixed together with a poppy seed sponge and drizzled with Schnapps. Things really can’t get more Austrian than that!

How to Make a Washington Apple | Shots Recipes
Watch more How to Make Shots videos:
Okay, shot-drinkers. Our next shot up is going to be the Washington Apple. We're going to take you all the way to Washington, which is the apple state. Can I get a fact check on that? It's maybe not, but were going to go with it any way.
We're going to start with a one-ounce, one-and-a-half-ounce shot glass, depending on how hearty you are in the particular evening. We're going to use our shaker, we're going to take a little bit of ice because this one's going to be a chilled-down shot.
Next up, we're going to use bourbon. It can be any kind of bourbon, whatever your favorite one is. We're going to take about an ounce of that, throw it into our trusty dusty mixing cup. We're going to use apple, hence why it's called Washington Apple. So we're going to use a little bit of apple schnapps.
About an equal part of that again, it's about a one count pour, and then the final ingredient a little bit of cranberry juice. This is to kind of make it red, because as we all know ascetics are very important to any good shot. Tastes good, looks good, kind of, you know, how you want to go out on a date too.
We're going to shake it up, stir it down, knock it off, and again we can use a pourer, a strainer, you can free hand it, however you feel comfortable. If it gets a little sloppy, that's okay too, because in the end we're all just trying to have a good time and enjoy a Washington Apple.
