How To make Apple Walnut Cake with Apple Cider Glaze
1 1/2 c Vegetable oil
2 c Granulated sugar
3 Eggs
2 c Unbleached all-purpose
-flour, sifted 1/8 ts Ground cloves
1 1/4 ts Ground cinnamon
1/4 ts Ground mace
1 ts Baking soda
1/2 ts Salt
1 c Whole-wheat flour, sifted
4 c Shelled walnuts, coarsely
-chopped 1 1/4 c Coarse chunks of peeled and
-cored apples 3 tb Applejack
Apple Cider Glaze (see -recipe)
APPLE CIDER GLAZE:
4 tb Sweet butter
2 tb Brown sugar
6 tb Granulated sugar
3 tb Applejack or apple brandy
4 tb Sweet cider
2 tb Fresh orange juice
2 tb Heavy cream
Preheat oven to 325F. In a large bowl, beat vegetable oil and sugar until thick and opaque. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, cloves, cinnamon, mace, baking soda and salt, then stir in whole-wheat flour. Add to oil and egg mixture and mix until well blended. Add walnuts, apple chunks and applejack all at once and stir batter until pieces are evenly distributed. Pour batter into a greased 10-inch round cake pan. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. APPLE CIDER GLAZE: Melt butter in a small saucepan and stir in both sugars. Add remaining ingredients, stir, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat slightly and cook for 4 minutes. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Pour while still warm over warm cake. Makes 1 1/2 cups glaze. 3 tbsp sunflower oil
Brown Sugar Mix:
150 g brown sugar
3 tsp cinnamon
6 tbsp sunflower oil or 120 g melted butter
Glaze:
200 g icing sugar
70 ml milk
9'' X 13'' (23-CM X 33-CM) PAN
Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F) and bake for 30-40 mins, but keep an eye on it.
Test with a toothpick for doneness!
NOTE: You can adjust the quantity of sugar to suit your taste. Feel free to use less sugar if you prefer a less sweet cake.Enjoy! ????????

Elevate a store-bought cake mix with a few simple steps. Full of fresh apples and warm cinnamon, this cake is a little slice of autumnal heaven.

Cook Time: 40 minutes
Cooling Time: 60 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour, 50 minutes
Ingredients:
For the cake:
1 pound fresh apples (about 4 small ones), peeled and chopped (Produce)
1 TBSP flour (Aisle 5)
2 TBSP brown sugar (Aisle 5)
1 tsp. cinnamon (Aisle 5)
1 package cake mix, such as white, vanilla, or yellow (Aisle 5)
1 cup whole milk (Dairy)
½ cup canola oil (Aisle 5)
3 large eggs, at room temperature (Dairy)
1 tsp. vanilla extract (Aisle 5)
For the glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar (Aisle 5)
2 TBSP apple cider (Produce)
Pinch of cinnamon (Aisle 5)
Directions:
For the cake:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 10-cup Bundt pan with baking spray (Aisle 5) and set aside. In a medium bowl, stir together the apple pieces, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon, set aside. In a large bowl, Whisk together the cake mix, milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Gently stir in the apples. Pour into prepared Bundt pan and bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes. Remove from oven and cool cake in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes before turning over and removing cake from pan. Allow cake to cool completely before glazing (recipe follows).
For the glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cider, and cinnamon until smooth. (Glaze will appear to be quite thick, but any thicker and it won’t stay on the cake!) Once cake is fully cooled, pour glaze over the top.
*Cake can be store in an airtight container for up to four days.
