How To make Baked French Toast (Ovo Lacto)
2/3 c Cottage cheese, lowfat
1/4 c Skim milk
2 tb Sugar
1 lg Egg white
1/2 ts Vanilla extract
4 sl Whole grain bread
: Perheat the oven to 425. In a food proscessor or blender, whirl the cottage cheese, milk, sugar, egg, egg white, & vanilla for about 1 minute or until smooth. Transfer the mixture to a shallow dish, place the bread in it, and let stand for 10 minutes. Turn the bread over and let stand another 10 minutes. Meanwhile, grease a baking sheet & place it in the perheated oven for 7 minutes. : Remove the baking sheet from the oven, place the bread on it, and bake for 6 minutes. Turn the bread over & bake 5 to 6 minutes. Garlic Bread 2 Ways (1 Vegan, 1 O/L Veg)
Two techniques for two different styles of garlic bread. Amounts listed are “to taste”, use as little for as much as you like. The better your bread and olive oil, the better these will be.
1 The Toast & Scrape (vegan)
1/4 baguette
1 clove garlic, sliced in half
drizzle olive oil, to taste
salt
2 The Infused & Broil (ovo-lacto vegetarian)
3 cloves of garlic, minced
28g/2T butter
1T olive oil
1/3 baguette
chopped basil or parsley
20g/4T grated parmesan
salt and pepper to taste
Oven @ 200C/400F
Optional additions: zhug*, harissa or roasted red pepper paste; za'atar, sumac or other spice/blend; minced preserved lemon*, capers, olives or grated fresh tomato to make a variation on pan con tomate.
