Hi! My name is Anita. I’m a 57 year old Weight Watcher. I’ve lost 45 pounds, and trying to get to 50. But I’m doing it slowly, because I’m living life, too.
I live with my husband Steve, and my grandson Oliver. We like to keep things light, and have a good laugh now and then. I sometimes get what we call “ the drizzles” for both happy and sad occasions.
I needed a place to talk, so I figured where better than You Tube? Join the Paddiwack Party, woncha?

Skinny No-Bake Cookies | WEIGHT WATCHERS RECIPE
These cookies were our Papa’s absolute favorite cookie (the full fat version) and now they have become a family favorite. The original recipe is VERY HIGH in WW points. This is a knock off of the original recipes with some ingredient swaps to make it lower in points. Do they taste the same as the original ones? No, but they are a nice alternative when you are craving a chocolatey peanut buttery snack that won’t use your entire days point allowance. If weight is not an issue for you I highly suggest trying the original recipe below:
Original Recipe:
¼ cup Butter
1 cup Sugar
2 TB Cocoa Powder
¼ tsp. Salt
¼ cup Milk
Bring to a boil and continue to boil for only 1 minute after the first bubbles start to appear to avoid over cooking. Then add:
¼ cup Peanut Butter
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
1 ½ cups Dry Oats
Stir till completely combined. Drop by spoonfuls onto a piece of parchment paper and let cool and harden.
WW Recipe:
1/4 cup I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Light
1/4 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
12 Pkgs of Sugar Substitute
2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Vanilla
4 Tbsp Smooth Peanut Butter
1 1/2 cups Dry Oatmeal
In a pot add the first 5 ingredients. Cook over med-high heat, stir constantly. Once melted take off of the heat. Add Vanilla and peanut butter, stir. Add oatmeal, stir. Form cookies, let cool. Enjoy.

The WORST cookie recipe EVER - 1943 Canadian Wartime Recipe
Generally, I love any type of oatmeal cookie... with raisins, chocolate chips, cranberries, etc... HOWEVER.... I have finally met a cookie that I don't like. I even checked to make sure my shortening wasn't rancid!! (It was brand new)
Don't get me wrong, the texture wasn't bad.. the corn syrup did make it fairly chewy. But holy moly the flavor was somethin' else - and not in a good way. I am not sure if taking the time to alter this recipe would be worth it... honestly I think I'll just stick with my tried and true version that includes butter and vanilla and all the rest of the good stuff.
Now I know that wartime versions of things were made to be economical and that ingredients were hard to come by sometimes, but I think I would have rather just had the filling on a spoon rather than waste it on a poor excuse for a cookie sandwich.
Oh well.. you live, you learn!
If you are curious and want to, for some reason, try it... here's the link to the recipe.

Raspberry Buns (Raspberry Jam Cookies) ◆ 1940s / WW2 Era Recipe
★ About: When we clocked this recipe in the Manual of Modern Cookery (1943), we had a feeling it would be a good one… and it was! The best way to describe these 'raspberry buns' is as big jam-filled cookies as they're they’re too soft to be biscuits and too hard to be buns. They’re soft, sweet and actually last quite well – at least a week in a jar.
In 1943, with rationing, ingredients were tight. A recipe like this that would use up much of an adult’s weekly allowance of fats, sugar and flour, not to mention their one and only egg, would really need to be planned for. In most cases, this sort of treat would be reserved for celebrations. Perhaps a birthday party, wedding, or to celebrate the safe return of a loved one from the frontline. Then, a few years later, a street party.
We recorded this video and made our batch the day before we took part in our local Race For Life and brought them with us as a treat after the race. They were a big hit, especially with 5-year-old cousin Isobelle who really wanted to know how we got the jam in the middle!
