Black Forest Cake
Preparation Time: 1 hour
Cooking Time: 4 minutes
Serves: 4-5
Ingredients:
1 cup Flour
1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
1 tsp Baking Powder
a pinch of Salt
1 cup Buttermilk
1 cup Sugar
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
1/4 cup refined Vegetable Oil
2 tbsp Sugar
1 cup Water
Chopped Cherries
Method:
Sieve together the flour, salt, baking powder and the cocoa powder.
Mix the sugar and the buttermilk. Add the baking soda, mix well and let stand for 5 minutes.
Add in the vanilla essence and mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients to make a smooth consistent batter.
Add in the oil and mix well.
Pour into the baking tin and microwave for 4 minutes.
Allow the cake to cool down completely.
Cut the cake into 2 slices.
Sprinkle sugar syrup.
Layer with whipped cream and top with chopped cherries.
Place the second layer of cake on top and sprinkle sugar syrup.
Cover the cake with white whipped cream.
Cover with grated chocolate.
Pipe florets on the cake and place cherries on top.
Refrigerate for 15 minutes before serving.

Ingredients : my 1 cup measures 250ml
For chocolate sponge cake :
All purpose flour/maida : 2 and 1/2 cups/250 grams
Cocoa powder : 1/2 cup (50 grams)
Baking powder : 2 tea spoon
eggs : 5 (room temperature)
Sugar : 1 and 1/2 cups (300 grams)
Oil : 1/2 cup (125ml)
Warm milk : 1 cup (250ml)
Vanilla essence : 2 tea spoons
For sugar syrup :
Sugar : 1/2 cup
Water : 2 cups
Whipping cream : 2 cups
Chocolate shavings : as needed
Cherries : 1/2 cup (sliced)
Whole cherries for decorating
