• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon red gel food coloring
✅Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 375°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking liner.
2️⃣ 00:16 - In a large mixing bowl cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add in flour and salt and mix until well combined.
Divide dough in half. Add cinnamon to one half of the dough and dye with red food coloring.
3️⃣ 01:42 - Pinch about 1 to 1 ½ tablespoons worth of dough each from the white and red dough. Roll into about a 5 inch rope.
4️⃣ 02:00 - Place the two ropes side by side and gently twist together. Curve the top down into the shape of a candy cane. Repeat with the remaining dough.
5️⃣ 02:14 - Place onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 1 to 2 inches apart. Cookies will retain their shape.
6️⃣ 02:40 - Bake in the 375 degree oven for 7 to 10 minutes. Let sit on the pan for 1 to 2 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Christmas Candy Cane Cookies!
Candy Cane Cookies are so fun and colourful, they just had to be Day 1 of my '12 Days of Christmas Cookies'! These wonderful candy cane cookies taste as good as they look, and you’ll love making them with your family and friends!
They are perfect for your cookie exchange, and you can even hang these gorgeous candy canes on your Christmas tree! You can customize them to your tastes by changing up the extract flavour. I like vanilla, but you can add peppermint, which is more traditional!
