Caramel Apple Upside-Down Cake

Upside-Down Dulce De Leche Apple Cake
Serves 5-6
INGREDIENTS
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
⅓ cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
⅓ cup oil
⅓ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup dulce de leche
3 granny smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced
Vanilla ice cream
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, eggs, oil, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Set aside.
In a small pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the dulce de leche and stir until mixture comes to a boil.
Immediately pour the dulce de leche mixture into a round baking pan.
Layer the apples in a circular pattern with each one overlapping the other. Repeat until the entire bottom of the pan is covered.
Pour the cake batter on top of the apples and spread the batter evenly on top.
Bake for 25 minutes, then cool until bottom is slightly warm.
Place a large round plate on top of the cake pan, then flip quickly. Give the cake pan a few pats to make sure the cake is released, then lift off the pan.
Slice, serve with ice cream!
Pastel Invertido de Manzana y Dulce de Leche
Sirve 5-6
INGREDIENTES
1 ½ tazas de harina
⅓ taza de azúcar
1 cucharadita de polvo para hornear
2 huevos
⅓ taza de aceite
⅓ taza de leche
1 cucharadita de extracto de vainilla
2 cucharadas de mantequilla
1 taza de dulce de leche
3 manzanas verdes, peladas y cortadas en rebanadas delgadas
Helado de vainilla
PREPARACION
Precalentar el horno a 350°F / 180°C.
En un tazón grande mezclar la harina, azúcar, polvo para hornear, huevos, aceite, leche y vainilla hasta que sea una mezcla homogénea, reserve a un lado.
En una olla pequeña, derretir la mantequilla a fuego medio. Agregar el dulce de leche y mover hasta que la mezcla suelte un hervor.
Inmediatamente verter la mezcla de dulce de leche en un molde redondo para hornear.
Acomodar las rebanadas de manzanas en capas y en un patrón circular posicionando una un poco encima de la otra. Repita hasta que el fondo del molde esté completamente cubierto.
Vertir la mezcla de pastel encima de las manzanas y distribuir uniformemente.
Hornear por 25 minutos, luego dejar enfriar hasta que el fondo del molde esté tibio.
Colocar un plato amplio encima del molde e invertir rápidamente. Dar unas palmaditas al molde para que el pastel se desprenda facilmente. Remover el molde.
Rebanar, y servir con helado de vainilla!

EASY Caramel Apple Upside Down Cake Recipe
3 eggs
½ cup Sugar
6 oz Milk
2 cups Flour
1 Tablespoons Baking Powder
1 Tablespoons Vanilla Extract
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
½ teaspoon Salt
3 Apples, sliced in wedges
Caramel Sauce
1 cup Sugar
6 Tablespoons Butter
½ cup Heavy Cream
1 teaspoon Salt
Preheat oven 350 degrees
1. In a saucepan, add sugar, butter and salt.
2. Once the sugar mixtures begins to boil, add heavy cream and whisk vigorously. Careful when adding heavy cream as it will bubble up.
3. Stir until mixture comes together and is smooth.
4. Place caramel sauce in the bottom of a springform pan.
5. Starting in the middle of the springform pan, begin placing wedge sliced apples in a circular form. Continue in a circular motion until the springform bottom of the apple layer is filled.
6. In a large bowl, add eggs and sugar and mix until well incorporated.
7. Add milk and vanilla extract and continue to whisk to incorporate smoothly.
8. Add remaining dry ingredients and continue whisk until a smooth batter is formed.
9. Pour batter on top of the apples. Smooth top of batter.
10. Bake for 30 – 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
11. Allow cake to cool for 10 minutes and invert onto a serving dish.
12. Serve with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.

For The Topping
¼ cup (56 g) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
½ cup (105 g) light brown sugar, packed
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 large tart baking apples, peeled, cored, and sliced thin
For The Cake
1 ½ cups (195 g) cake flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
⅛ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
⅓ cup (75 g) unsalted butter, softened
½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
¼ cup (60 ml) maple syrup, or honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs, room temperature
⅓ cup (80 ml) apple cider, or apple juice
1 cup (113 g) tart baking apples, peeled, cored, and finely diced
???? INSTRUCTIONS
For The Topping
Position the oven rack to the center and preheat the oven to 350ºF. Spray a 9-inch round cake pan with non-stick spray. Line the inside bottom with a piece of parchment paper cut to fit. Spray the parchment paper lightly with non-stick spray.
In a medium-sized pot over medium-low heat, stir together butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook the mixture for 3 to 4 minutes, until it becomes creamy and bubbles lightly. Remove the pan from the heat.
Pour the glaze into the bottom of the cake pan. Gently tilt the pan to help the glaze spread evenly over the bottom.
Arrange the apple slices in the pan by placing them side by side around the outer edge of the pan. (The slices should be touching each other with the tips pointing toward the center of the pan) Arrange more slices in the middle, slightly overlapping the apples that are already in place. Gently press the apples down into the glaze so that they touch the bottom of the pan.
For The Cake
In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each one. Beat in the maple syrup and vanilla.
Add half the flour mixture, mixing just until almost fully combined. Mix in the apple cider. Add the remaining flour mixture, mix until just combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl until well blended. Fold in the chopped apples. The batter will be thick.
Carefully pour the batter over the apples in the cake pan, be careful not to disturb the arrangement. Use an offset spatula to spread the batter out into a smooth layer to the edge of the pan.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the cake is a rich golden brown and a wooden toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Place a serving platter over the top of the cake pan and flip them both over to invert the cake out onto the platter. Replace any apples that may have moved or stuck to the pan.
Cool to room temperature before slicing and serving.

INGREDIENTS
3 apples, sliced into wedges
For the batter:
150g (3/4 cup) sugar
220g butter
340g (1 cup) honey
180ml (3/4 cup) buttermilk
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
300g (2 1/2 cups) flour
2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
10g baking powder
For the caramel:
100g (1/2 cup) sugar
3 tbsp water
METHOD
1. In the pan add sugar and water, cook on medium heat until turns into caramel, and top apples with prepared caramel.
2. In another pan cook butter for 6 minutes on medium heat, mix with honey, buttermilk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract, sift in the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and add in salt. Pour onto the apples and caramel.
3. Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 1 hour. Let it cool for 15 minutes and serve.
