How to Make Whopper Chocolate Chip Cookies - Springtime/Easter Edition made with Robin Eggs and Malted Milk Powder.
When I see Robin Eggs hit the store shelves I know its springtime. I love whoppers and malted milk powder and these cookies are so cute with the spring colored candies baked in. These cookies are really easy to mix up and when Easter is over just substitute the Robin Eggs for regular Whoppers. Malt powder adds another level of richness to these cookies.
Ingredients -
Butter - 12 tablespoons. I use cold butter for fluffier cookies. I also cut my butter into smaller chunks to aide in the mixing process
Brown Sugar – 1 Cup
Sugar – ¾ Cup
Eggs - 2
Vanilla – 2 TBSP
Molasses or Sweetened Condensed Milk – 3 TSP – this is optional
Malt Powder such as Carnation – ½ Cup
All Purpose Flour – 3 Cups
Baking Soda – ¾ TSP
Salt – 1 TSP
White Chocolate Chips – 1 Cup
Robin Eggs or Whoppers – 1 Cup
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, whisk flour, malted milk powder, baking soda and salt together. Set aside.
2. In the bowl of a stand mixer and I use the paddle attachment cream butter for about 4 minutes, scraping the sides of bowl and paddle often during this cycle. I usually scrape at least 4 times.
3. Next add sugars until smooth and creamy, about another 4 minutes and scrape and clean the paddle during this cycle as well.
4. Add egg, vanilla, condensed milk and beat until combined.
5. Slowly mix in the dry ingredients. I usually add in 2 stages and combine until just mixed. I like to finish mixing by hand to avoid gluten build-up.
6. Next add it your white chocolate chips and whoppers and fold into dough
7. Scoop cookies to your size preference. I usually use a 2 ounce scooper and I prefer to let the dough sit in the refrigerator at least 30 minutes to set up again and develop flavor
8. Bake for 8-9 minutes at 375 degrees
Tips/Suggestions
Of course you can use a hand-mixer. I like the ease of the paddle attachment for my cookie recipes.
I recommend refrigerating all cookie doughs before baking. This ensures the butter will set up again and it also helps your dough develop more flavor.
I roll these out and freeze them to bake later as well.
The recipe should make 2 dozen cookies depending on the size scoop you are using.
