How To make Gingerbread Cake
1 c All-purpose flour
1/2 c Whole wheat flour (don't
Substitute more white flour The cake'll be gooey) 1/4 c Brown sugar
1 t Cinnamon
1 t Ground ginger
1/2 t Baking powder
1/2 t Baking soda
1/2 c Non-fat buttermilk
1/2 c Applesauce
1/2 c Molasses
2 Egg whites
Powdered sugar for dusting Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly coat 8x2x2 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine flours, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, baking powder and baking soda. In a small bowl, combine buttermilk, applesauce, molasses and egg whites; add to flour mixture. Beat until combined. Pour into baking pan and bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes, cut cake into nine squares and dust with powdered sugar.

How to Make Old Fashioned Gingerbread Cake
A classic gingerbread cake recipe. This old fashioned recipe make a moist, airy cake that's great for snacking and is delicious with a brown sugar or chocolate sauce. Easy to make and works every time.
Old Fashioned Gingerbread
•2 cups flour
•1 ½ teaspoon baking soda
•½ teaspoon salt
•½ cup sugar
•1 teaspoon ginger
•1 teaspoon cinnamon
•½ cup soft butter
•¾ cup Crosby’s Fancy Molasses
•1 egg
•1 cup boiling water
1.Grease and flour an 8”x8” square pan (or line the pan with parchment paper.)
2.Sift together dry ingredients in a large bowl.
3.Add the butter, molasses and egg and beat for two minutes or 300 strokes by hand. (This is a very old recipe…it actually says that.)
4.Add the boiling water.
5.Beat for another two minutes and turn into prepared pan.
6.Bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes, or until cake springs back when lightly touched.

Gingerbread Cake | 100 year old recipe
This gingerbread cake is a classic dessert that is perfect to serve year round.
This recipe is quick, easy and delicious. It was passed to me from my great grandmother and I am glad I get to now share it with you. This cake is so good topped with maple whipped cream.
Gingerbread Cake Ingredients:
1 cup white sugar
1 cup melted butter
1 cup molasses
2 eggs
¼ cup hot water with 2 tsp baking soda added to it
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
½ tsp ground cloves
1 cup hot water
Gingerbread Cake Directions:
1. In a large bowl cream sugar, melted butter, molasses, and eggs.
2. Add water and soda mixture.
3. Mix together dry ingredients.
4. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
5. Add 1 cup of hot water to the batter. This will result in a very thin batter.
6. Grease and flour a 9 X 13 pan, pour in batter.
7. Bake @ 325°F for 40 – 60 minutes. Check to see if the cake is done by inserting a toothpick, when it comes out clean the cake is done.
8. Serve warm or let cool. For added goodness top with maple whipped cream, recipe below.
Maple Whipped Cream Ingredients:
1 cup whipped cream
4 Tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp salt
Maple Whipped Cream Directions:
1. Add chilled whipping cream to bowl and whip until soft peaks form.
2. Add maple syrup, vanilla and salt.
3. Whip until firm peaks form.
4. Serve on gingerbread cake or any other dessert!
