How To make Hamburger Barley Vegetable Soup
1 1/2 lb Ground beef
6 c Water
3 ts Instant beef bouillon
2 c Sliced carrots
1 1/2 c Coarsely chopped onions
1 1/2 c Coarsely chopped celery
1/2 c Coarsely chopped green peppr
1/3 c Barley
1 ts Salt
1/8 ts Pepper
2 Bay leaves
1/4 c Catsup
1 cn (28 oz.)tomatoes, undrained
1 cn (8 oz) tomato sauce
In 5-quart Dutch oven, brown ground beef (I use extra-lean): drain. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat: cover and simmer 1 hour or until vegetables and barley are tender. Remove bay leaves. Tip: Flavor improves if chilled overnight and reheated before serving. Submitted by Isabel Sullivan, Salt Lake City, Utah.

1 1/4 pounds ground beef, 80% lean meat (566g)
1 cup onion, chopped (178g)
2 cups carrots, chopped (268g)
1 cup celery, chopped (158g)
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
6 ounces tomato paste (170g)
28 ounces petite diced tomatoes (793g)
4 cups beef stock (946 ml)
2 cups water (473 ml)
1/2 cup dried barley (103g)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 bay leaves
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
1 tablespoon fresh thyme

thyme, rosemary, oregano

2 (907 grams) pounds beef chuck - cubed
3 (41 grams) tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion - diced
2 ribs celery - diced
4 medium carrots - diced
3 cloves garlic minced
¾ (175 grams) cup dry red wine
6 (1440 grams) cups low-sodium beef broth
1 (17 grams) tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
3 sprigs thyme
1 (180 grams) cup pearl barley
salt and pepper - to taste

2 pounds chuck roast diced small fat removed
1 medium onion diced
2 carrots sliced
2 celery ribs chopped
4 cloves of garlic diced
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp oregano
2 tsp dried parsley
1 bay leaf
1 tsp seasoned salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
8 cups beef stock I used low sodium
1 14.5 ounce can fire roasted tomatoes blended
4 oz tomato sauce
1 to 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 medium Yukon gold potatoes small diced
1 cup kernel corn
2/3 cup medium barley
Salt to taste......Enjoy!
