How To make Hawaiian Teriyaki Roast Pork
3 lb Boneless pork shoulder
1 c Kikkoman Teriyaki Sauce
3 tb Brown sugar; packed
3 tb Dry sherry
1 ts Minced fresh ginger root
1 Garlic clove; minced
Pierce meaty parts of pork with fork; place in large plastic bag. Combine remaining 5 ingredients; pour over pork. Press air out of bag; close top securely. Refrigerate 8 hours or overnight, turning bag over occasionally. Reserving marinade, remove pork and place, fat side down, in 8-inch square microwave-safe baking dish. Brush thoroughly with reserved marinade. Cover pork loosely with wax paper. Microwave on Medium-high (70%) 30 minutes, rotating dish once and brushing with reserved marinade. Turn pork over; cover and microwave on Medium-high 30 minutes longer, or until meat thermometer inserted in thickest part registers 165 F, rotating dish once and brushing with marinade. This Chinese Braised Pork Belly is known as Dong Po Rou 东坡肉, which is said to be created by Su Dongpo when he was banished to Hangzhou. Traditionally this dish is made by pan-frying the pork belly first then the pork is braised over low heat. However, you know we love to simplify methods without compromising the taste so we took away the pan-frying part and went straight to braising immediately after the pork is blanched. Melt In Your Mouth Pork Belly (Dong Po Rou 东坡肉) Chinese Braised Pork Belly
Ingredients:
Serves 4 - 6 pax

Blanch the following:

700g pork belly
1 thumb size young ginger (sliced thinly)
2 tablespoons Chinese cooking wine (Shaoxing Huatiao wine)

Braise the following:

1 stalk of leek (or spring onion / scallion)
30g young ginger (sliced thinly)
50g rock sugar (or brown sugar / white sugar)
2 bay leaves
1 cinnamon stick
1 star anise
250ml Chinese white rice wine (白米酒)
4 tablespoons Chinese cooking wine (Shaoxing Huatiao wine)
125ml light soy sauce
4 tablespoons premium dark soy sauce
Enough water to cover the pork

How to Make Hawaiian Style BBQ Teriyaki Chicken
Nothing beats a good BBQed Teriyaki fresh from the grill with a side of rice and mac salad. Brought to Hawaii from Japan, this recipe has been adopted by the islanders. Teriyaki is most commonly marinated with chicken thighs and beef.
Ingredients:
2-3 lbs skinless and boneless chicken thighs
Base Teriyaki Sauce:
1 ½ cups shoyu (soy sauce)
1 cup sugar
Optional additions:
1 tsp grated ginger
2 cloves grated garlic
2 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp lightly grounded sesame seeds
1 tsp ajinomoto (MSG)
2 stalks of green onions
