FOR THE PIGS IN A BLANKET
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed in the refrigerator overnight
- 1 package (approximately 30-35) miniature smokie-style hot dogs
- 4 ounces herbed goat cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- sesame seeds for optional garnish
FOR THE DIPPING SAUCE
- 3/4 cup barbeque sauce
- 1/4 cup grape jam
FOR THE PIGS IN A BLANKET
Place thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Roll just enough to smooth out creases in pastry.
Using a cutting wheel, cut the sheet into 30 pieces, 3 X 10.
These can be filled with goat cheese for an optional upscale take on the classic or left plain. If using cheese, make a small cut (not all the way through) down the center of a smokie and fill with a small amount of cheese.
Working with one piece of pastry at a time, place a cheese-filled or plain smokie at one end and roll the pastry up. Pinch seam shut and place seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Continue spacing the prepared pieces two inches apart.
Once completed, these can be refrigerated, covered with plastic wrap, for up to one day, which makes them perfect for pre-party planning. Otherwise, chill for 30 minutes before proceeding.
Before baking, brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Place in preheated 425 degree oven for 25-30 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
FOR THE DIPPING SAUCE
While the pigs in a blanket are baking, prepare the sauce by combining the barbecue sauce and grape jam in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave at high power in one-minute increments, stirring until hot and combined.

Have you ever noticed that residual oily feeling left behind in your mouth after eating crescent roll pigs in a blanket? No, thank you. The flavors you'll find here are cleaner and eons better with this made-from-scratch pigs in a blanket recipe!
Not to mention, this homemade dough is one of the easiest doughs you’ll ever make!
It comes together in less than 10 minutes with just a few ingredients! If you live in a dryer environment, you may find you need to add 2-3 tablespoons more milk to the dough when mixing!
Here’s how you make it!
Ingredients
* 1 (12-14 ounce) package of Little Smokies or Cocktail Sausages, patted dry
* 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
* 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
* 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt, plus a pinch -- separated
* 1/2 cup milk* (see note)
* 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
***If you live in a dryer environment, you may find you need to add 2-3 tablespoons more milk to the dough.
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 400° and have ready a sheet pan lined with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper.
2. Pat the sausages dry using paper towels and with the tines of a fork, poke two sets of holes in all of the cocktail sausages. Set aside until ready to use.
3. Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add milk and butter and stir until combined.
4. On a floured work surface, pat out the dough, dust it with flour, and using a rolling pin, roll it out into a rectangle, about 1/8 of an inch thick.
5. Cut lengthwise strips, about 1 wide. Then cut 2 1/2-3 sections across the strips. You should have about 20 rectangular strips. Combine any dough scraps and repeat with what's left. Place a cocktail sausage at the end of each strip and roll it to close. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all are assembled.
6. Bake for 15 minutes, serve, and enjoy!

How to make the BEST Pigs in Blankets | Christmas Dinner
Every Christmas dinner needs pigs in blankets and lots of them!
I like to use little cocktail sausages so they’re not so huge that they take over the turkey, but I make plenty of them, so everyone can go back for seconds, thirds, and there are enough for an epic addition to leftover turkey butties later.
Free printable recipe on our site:
Ingredients:
• 15 rashers/strips of smoked streaky bacon
• 30 cocktail sausages
• 2 tbsp honey
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F.
2. Take a rasher of bacon and stretch it out a little, then slice it in half widthways.
3. Take a cocktail sausage and wrap one of the pieces of bacon you’ve just sliced in half around it.
4. Place the wrapped sausage on a baking tray, seam-side down.
5. Repeat with the remaining sausages and bacon.
6. Place in the oven for 25 minutes, until the sausage is cooked and the bacon is crisp.
7. Drizzle over the honey and place back in the oven for a further 5 minutes.
8. Remove from the oven, leave to cool for a minute (the honey will be very hot), then carefully transfer to a serving plate and serve.

Easy Pigs in a Blanket | Super Bowl Appetizers
Easy Pigs in a Blanket recipe just in time for the Super Bowl. Check out the recipe below.
1 tube of 8 crescent rolls
1 pack of lit'l smokies (beef or pork)
1 egg (wisked)
1/2 cup shredded cheese (your fav)
Using parchment paper (important), spread out your tube of crescent rolls. Sprinkle your shredded cheese on top as evenly as possible (no need to go crazy here). Separate the triangles of the crescent rolls and cut into thirds the long ways. Take your lit'l smokies and start on the wide part of the crescent rolls and roll it up. Place the Pigs on a cookie sheet/baking pan on top of more parchment paper spread evenly apart. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 375 for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Enjoy!!!
