How To make Lone Star Brisket

6 lb Beef Brisket

well trimmed
2 Onions :

sliced
1 clove Garlic

minced
3/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Vinegar
1 cup Ketchup
1 cup Water
1 Tbsp Salt
Pepper :

freshly ground
Place brisket in Dutch oven and brown on all sides. Add onions and garlic; saute until well browned. Add remaining ingredients. Cook, covered, until meat is tender, 2 1/2-3 hours.
Or, to prepare in a crockpot, brown brisket, onions, and garlic as above. Transfer all into large crockpot, along with remaining ingredients. Cook on low 10-12 hours or overnight or until meat is tender.
