Ingredients: Cake: •1 cups unsalted butter, melted and cooled •1 cup room temperature water •2 cups sugar •½ cup sour cream (room temp) •2 eggs (room temp) •1 teaspoons vanilla •1 teaspoons almond extract •2 cups flour •1 teaspoon baking soda •½ teaspoon salt
Icing & Topping: •1 cups unsalted butter, melted and cooled •⅓ cup milk (room temp) •1 teaspoon vanilla •½ teaspoon almond extract •5 ½ cups powdered sugar •sliced almonds for garnish
Directions: Cake: •Preheat oven to 350. •Grease a 13x18 jelly roll pan (or half sheet pan). •In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, water, sour cream and sugar. •Whisk in eggs, vanilla extract and almond extract. •Whisk in the flour, baking soda and salt until thoroughly combined. •Pour batter into the pan. •Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean. •Once cake is baked, move on to icing.
Icing & Topping: •In a large bowl, combine melted butter, milk, vanilla extract, almond extract and powdered sugar. •Whisk until smooth. •Pour icing over the top of the cake (still in the half sheet pan). •Using an icing spatula (or spoon) spread icing to the edges of the cake, making sure the entire cake is covered. •Sprinkle with almonds.
