CHIPPED BEEF AND GRAVY OVER TOAST (S.O.S.) | RICHARD IN THE KITCHEN
WARNING: AN ADULT WORD IS USED IN THE VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!
In this video I show you how to make a classic military dish, shit on a shingle. Dried chipped beef in a creamy country gravy seasoned with black pepper and served over white bread toast. Simply delicious!
Shopping List:
2 ounce jar Hormel dried chipped beef
2 tbs. butter
2 tbs all purpose flour
2 cups milk
Black pepper to taste.
White bread
DO NOT ADD SALT. THERE'S PLENTY IN THE BEEF ALREADY. YOU MAY CONSIDER RINSING THE BEEF THEN DRYING IT AND ADDING SALT TO TASTE. IT IS REALLY SALTY OUT OF THE JAR.
Directions:
Chop the beef into bite-size pieces. Set aside.
Add the butter to a skillet over medium heat. Allow to melt then add the flour. Whisk until it forms a roux.
Gradually add the milk while whisking then bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium low, add the beef, stir and simmer until the gravy thickens.
Serve over melted butter on white bread toast.
