Pineapple Teriyaki Pork Burgers Recipe
Yield: serves 4
Cooking Time: 10 min
Ingredients
1 lb ground Canadian Pork (500 g)
1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs 50 mL
1 tsp salt (5 mL)
1/4 tsp garlic powder (1 ml)
1/4 tsp pepper(1 mL)
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp (25 mL) chopped onion
4 pineapple slices
4 buns
Lettuce
Sauce
2 tbsp (25 mL) soy sauce
1/4 cup (50 mL) orange juice concentrate
2 green onions, finely chopped
1/4 tsp (1 mL) ground ginger
1 tsp (5 mL) brown sugar
1 tsp (5 mL) cornstarch
1 tbsp water (15 mL)
Cooking Instructions
Combine Pork, bread crumbs, seasonings, egg and chopped onion; blend well and form, into patties.
Preheat barbecue on high; reduce temperature to medium. Place patties on grill; close barbecue cover and grill 5 to 7 minutes per side or until well done.
Meanwhile, prepare sauce. Combine soy sauce, concentrate, green onions, ginger and brown sugar and heat until bubbly. Blend cornstarch and water, then add to sauce mixture. Heat and stir until thickened.
When patties are almost done, place pineapple on grill to heat slightly. Serve patties on buns with lettuce, a slice of pineapple and a dollop of sauce.
