Poached Salmon with Lemon Dill Sauce
Salmon is one of my favorite fishes to poach, and poaching fish fillets is one of the easiest and healthiest ways to cook fish. This poached salmon recipe is incredibly easy to take on, and it will leave you with perfectly tender salmon fillets that are bright and flavorful with notes of citrus and herbs. For a little extra kick, I'll show you how to make my Dill Yogurt Dipping Sauce to serve on top or on the side.

Salmon w/ Creamy Dill Sauce || The Keto Kitchen
[RECIPE BELOW] Salmon with a Creamy Dill Sauce.
We honestly don't have much fish because my mother isn't massively keen. Which is upsetting because as someone who grew up in Jersey, the Channel Island, fish was a big thing for me (you're only ever 2.5 miles from the coast).
But something I've noticed from cooking fish whilst she's fasting (tooting my own horn here a bit) is that I am VERY good at cooking fish. This is another meal that I personally thought was restaurant quality and extremely flavoursome. It's buttery, flaky but also creamy and it has this slightly cooling taste that just adds to the flavours.
| The Recipe |
SALMON INGREDIENTS:
- 3 Salmon Fillets (about 360g)
- 1 tbsp Fresh Dill (or 1 tsp dried)
- 2 tsp Oil (Coconut (melted), Avocado or Olive)
- Sprinkle of Salt & Pepper
DILL SAUCE INGREDIENTS:
- 1 tbsp Fresh Dill (or 1 tsp dried)
- 125ml (1/2 cup) Sour Cream
- 2 tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
- 1 tsp Lemon Zest (zest of 1 lemon)
- 2 tbsp Lemon Juice (juice of 1 lemon)
- Salt & Pepper to taste
METHOD:
1. Preheat oven to 200c/400f.
2. Prepare a baking sheet by wrapping it with tin/aluminium foil (this is the best way because it's easy clean up!)
3. In a medium bowl, add ALL dill sauce ingredients and mix well. Leave in room temperature.
4. Place salmon on prepared baking sheet, brush with oil, add dill and a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
5. Place in the oven for 15 minutes. You will know it's cooked when it flakes easily with a fork.
6. Serve salmon with a nice helping on the dill sauce and enjoy!

1-Minute Video! LEMON DILL SAUCE!
CS-Ep.63 – This lovely LEMON DILL SAUCE goes with pretty much everything. It’s also super-easy to prepare and is made with readily available ingredients. We like serving it next to our favourite fish or chicken main course but it also pairs perfectly with vegetable side dishes and potatoes done any way!
Here's what you’ll need to make it:
2 tablespoons of butter
¼ medium white onion, finely diced
1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour
¾ cup of whole milk
juice of ½ a lemon
salt to taste
2 tablespoons of fresh dill, chopped
Here’s how to make it:
1) Melt butter in a medium-sized skillet over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion and cook until onions are soft and translucent. Sprinkle flour onto onions, stir and continue to cook for a few moments.
2) Add about ½ cup of the milk and stir as the sauce thickens. Stir in lemon juice and then add additional milk to achieve a thick or thin sauce, depending on your preference.
3) Taste sauce and adjust flavour by adding salt. Stir in chopped dill and serve.
