How To make White Chili with Tempeh
:
VEGETARIAN TIMES JULY 94:
8 oz Tempeh cut into 1" cubes
1 1/2 c Onion :
chopped
2 Garlic cloves -- minced
1 3/4 c Vegetable broth, or more if
-needed 2 ts Fresh ginger root minced
3 c Mushrooms :
sliced
1 t Ground cumin
1 1/2 ts Chili powder
1/4 ts Ground cloves
2 c Navy beans cooked
1 c Green bell pepper :
chopped
1 c Red bell pepper -- chopped
In large saucepan over medium heat, cook tempeh, onion and garlic in 1/2 cup vegetable broth, stirring occasionally, until onion is soft and liquid has evaporated, about 10 minutes. Mix in remaining 1 1/4 cup broth and remaining ingredients; simmer 15 to 20 minutes. Add additional broth as necessary. Serves 4. Per serving: 308 cal; 18 g prot; 4 g fat; 72 g carb; 0 chol; 52 mg sod; 10 g fiber; 12% of calories from fat

Growing up in Ireland in the 90's sweet and sour sauce was about as exotic as it could possibly get when we ordered from the Chinese Take Away. Even still to this day is the most popular sauce option and that's because it's such a perfect combination of sweet sticky deliciousness and vinegar sourness that cuts through so well. It's also very easy to make, but nearly impossible to make healthy, that's why what you put t on is very important. How To Make Tempeh Taste AMAZING | High Protein Meat Alternative
Tempeh is such a great food, but it doesn't always taste the best! These recipes and techniques will help you up your tempeh game. Whether you are just coming to a plant based diet and looking for a meat alternative or you've been vegan for years, I think you will love these recipes!

Recipes
Tempeh Bacon.
Slice into thin 1/8-1/4 inch strips
In a shallow dish mix:
3 tsp braggs
2 tsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp liquid smoke (20 drops)
and/or
1 tsp smoked Paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
Mix and marinate the tempeh for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Bake for 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees on silicon mat or other non stick surface.
* You can pan fry this as well.
Tempeh Sausage Crumble
Crumble 1 package of tempeh into bowl
In separate bowl mix seasoning
1 Tsp Garlic Powder
1 Tsp Onion Powder
1 Tsp Paprika
1/2 Tsp Sage
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 Tsp Rosemary
1/2 Tsp Thyme
1/2 Tsp Crushed Chili Flakes
1/4 Tsp fennel
Pinch of pepper
2 tsp Braggs
Or salt to taste
Mix together with crumbled tempeh
If time allows, let it sit for 1 hour to absorb the flavours.
Sauté with 1/2 cup water for 10 minutes or until water evaporates.
Recipe 3. Baked BBQ Tempeh
Cut tempeh into cubes
Toss in BBQ sauce
Marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 375 degrees.
