1 c sugar
cinnamon butter
Mix together all ingredients. Put into pie shell, add top shell, bake Just like an apple pie!!!

Green Tomato Mock Apple Pie Filling
With so many green tomatoes at the end of the gardening season we are always seeking ways to preserve them and this is one of our favorite things to do. Use it on ice cream, cobbler, pancakes, cake and pies but these are only a few ways so create your own.
Green Tomato Mock Apple Pie Filling
7 quarts of tomatoes
1 1/2 c brown sugar
1 1/2 c coconut sugar
1 1/4 c sure gel
7 c raw apple juice
1 c lemon juice
1/2 c Apple cider vinegar
1/4 c orange peel
2 T cinnamon
1 t allspice
1 t cloves
1/4 t cardamom
1 t nutmeg
1 t salt
Wash a cut green tomatoes like apple slices continue to drain while preparing sauce combine the remaining ingredients and heat till thickened continuing stirring. Being careful not to scorch. Add tomatoes to boiling sauce and bring Back to a boil. Water bath Can in quart jars and process for 30 minutes. Enjoy ????

Green Tomato Pie
This recipe was handed down by generation. My grandma Maddocks (dad's mom) passed this to my mom as it was a favorite pie in the fall for my dad. You can use any favorite apple pie recipe. My husband found a recipe in the book shown in this video for Raw Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. WOW!!! Soooooo very good!! I hope you enjoy this and use up some of the tomatoes before they go south for the winter months!!

Southern Tomato Pie Recipe / Also a great Thanksgiving recipe and Thanksgiving Side Dish.
Y'all, I have so many friends and family even that has never tried a tomato pie. Most think it is just going to be a big ole dish of tomato's with juice running all over the place. There couldn't be anything farther from the truth. Tomato pies go back decades and were a great way to use up all the tomato's we had growing on the vines mid to late summer.

So here ya go.
Ingredients:
pie crust (homemade or store bought)
4 Large Heirloom tomato's
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 heaping tablespoons sour cream
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Fresh Basil - two to three crowns
Fresh Oregano - about 3-4 stems
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded Colby cheese (you can use cheddar or whatever flavor you like)
1/2 a cup or so of my bourbon bacon jam
tablespoon garlic powder
pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
