*MSG is monosodium glutamate, commonly sold as Japanese Ajinomoto brand 'taste powder'. It is a controversial ingredient but it does occur naturally in meat and other foods. It is widely used in Southeast Asian cookery, but some Western food writers advise against its use. It adds a rich umami flavour and it is a common ingredient of ready meals, soy sauce and stock cubes, even in the West. More information here:

Combine all the dry ingredients in a gallon sized Ziploc bag. zip closed and shake the bag to distribute all the ingredients evenly. Add the oil and shake again so that the oil combines with the dry ingredients until it’s a consistency close to damp sand.
Dredge damp chicken pieces through the coating mixture inside the Ziploc bag. Place the chicken pieces on a foil lined baking sheet. If there is extra coding left over, you may want to sprinkle some of it over the chicken pieces. Bake in a 400° oven.
Boneless, skinless chicken breasts will need to bake about 20 minutes or until an internal temperature of 160° to 165° is reached. Bone in chicken breasts, legs, or thighs need to bake to an internal temperature of 170°, approximately 45 minutes.
After removing chicken from the oven, allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes in order for the juices to re-distribute.
