How To make Challah French Toast
-MICHAEL HATALA (RJHP21A) 6 Eggs
1/2 c Heavy cream, half-and-half
-or milk 1 ts Cinnamon
1/4 ts Salt
4 tb To 6 T clarified butter
8 sl Challah, cut 1-inch thick
Beat the eggs together with cream, half-and-half, or milk. Beat in cinnamon and salt. Melt the butter in a large frying pan. Dip the challah slices, one at a time, into the egg mixture, making sure that each slice is well coated. The challah should absorb a little of the egg mixture but not enough to get soggy. Fry each battered challah slice for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown. Don't fry too fast or the inside will be wet and gooey. Serve with your favorite jam, maple syrup, honey, cinnamon, sugar, or plain. NOTE: Heavy cream really is the best liquid to use in this recipe. SOURCE: MAMA LEAH'S JEWISH KITCHEN

Challah French Toast
This French Toast has it all! Delicious Challah Bread soaked in a creamy custard, flavored with cinnamon and vanilla, it has both a wonderful texture and flavor.
Challah French Toast
Ingredients:
1 Challah Bread Loaf
6 Large Eggs (288 grams)
1 Cup Milk (250 grams)
¾ Cup Heavy Cream (180 grams)
¼ tsp Salt (1.5 grams)
1 tsp Cinnamon (2.6 grams)
1 ½ Tbs Vanilla (23 grams)
3 Tbsp Maple Syrup (45 grams)
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 300 F (148 C) and cut 10-12 1’’ slices of your challah. Place a cooling rack on top of baking tray and place the bread slices on top. Place the tray in the oven and dry the slices for 7-8 minutes. Carefully remove the tray and flip the slices over. Place them back in the oven and let them dry for another 7-8 minutes. Take them out of the oven and place aside to cool down. Lower the oven to 250 F (121 C).
Prepare the custard by cracking 6 eggs into a medium size bowl. Whisk to break them up and then add 1 cup of milk and ¾ cups od heavy cream. Add ¼ tsp salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 ½ Tbsp vanilla and 3 Tbsp maple syrup. Whisk everything thoroughly and then transfer the custard into a 9X13’’ pan.
Place the slices into the custard and let them soak for 1-2 minutes. Flip them over and let them soak for another 1-2 minutes. After 2-4 minutes in total, place the soaked slices back onto the cooling rack and continue until you use up all of the bread and custard.
Set a large pan over a medium low heat and add 2 Tbsp of butter. Let the butter melt, and when ready add 4 bread slices. Fry them 3-4 minutes per side and then flip them over. Fry them for another 2-4 minutes, checking after 2 minutes and making sure they don’t burn. After they are done, place them onto a baking tray and place the tray in the oven to keep the toast warm, until all of the slices are finished.
Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
You can refrigerate the leftovers.
