How To make Chicken& Vegetables with Gravy
3 md Potatoes (to 4)
pared, halved lengthwise 2 Carrots :
sliced
2 Onions sliced
2 Celery ribs :
in 1" pieces
3 To 4 lb. whole broiler/fryer
rinsed well 2 ts Seasoned salt
1/2 ts Coarsely ground black pepper
1/2 ts Basil
1/2 c Water or chicken broth
:
GRAVY 1/3 c Flour
1/3 c :
Water
1/2 ts Thyme
1 t Soy sauce
Put vegetables in lightly oiled slow cooker. Place whole chicken in the middle of the vegetables. Sprinkle with seasoned salt, pepper and basil. Pour water or broth over all. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, or on high for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. If you cook it on high, increase broth or water to 1 cup. When ready to serve, remove chicken and vegetables to a serving platter. Reserve the liquid for gravy. Prepare a smooth paste with flour and water. Pour into the liquid. Turn cooker to high and stir the gravy. Add thyme and soy sauce. When thick, pour over chicken and vegetables, or serve on the side. SLOW COOKER CHICKEN AND GRAVY
A recipe from my archives that I finally made a video for! This recipe is a must try for an easy comforting meal.
RECIPE:
INGREDIENTS:
2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
1.74 oz. dry chicken gravy mix (2 packets)
10.75 oz. can cream of chicken soup
1.5 cups water
⅛ teaspoon black pepper
Gravy thickener if needed:
2 Tbsp. water
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
SLOW COOKER SIZE:
3-quart or larger
INSTRUCTIONS:
Add the chicken breasts (no need to pre-cook or brown)
In a small bowl whisk together the gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, water and pepper.
Pour the gravy mix over the chicken in the slow cooker.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
Shred the chicken with two forks in the slow cooker.
If your gravy is thin from the chicken being too juicy or added veggies, mix together the cornstarch and water. Add to the slow cooker along with the gravy and shredded chicken. Add the lid back on and cook high for 10 minutes longer or until the gravy has thickened.

Ingredients:
2-3 tbsp butter ( unsalted )
5 tbsp all purpse flour
1 chicken broth cube
1 beef broth cube
2 1/4 to 2 1/2 cup boiling water
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
Procedure
* Dissolve chicken and beef bouillon cube in hot water, set aside
* Melt butter in a pan, over low heat
* Add half of the flour, stirring constantly then add the rest
* Cook until color of the flour turns to medium brown
* Gradually add the chicken and beef stock continue whisking until it’s completely incorporated
Make sure there were no lumps remain ( much better to use wire whisk )
* Add ground black pepper
* Bring gravy to a boil, simmer for a few minutes until gravy reaches the consistency you prefer, takes 3-5 minutes
* Share and Enjoy!
Tips: Gravy thicken as it cools so keep your gravy warm, You can transfer it in a small thermos
to keep it hot and pourable before serving..
How to fix gravy?
* If gravy is too thick, just add water continue whisking then let it simmer
* If it’s too thin, simmer for a few minutes until gravy reduces and thicken
* If there are lumps, strain the gravy after cooking
