How To make Mexican Chili Burgers
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup seven grain cereal
10 ounces soft tofu, blended (or 1/2 cup egg whites
or egg substitute) 2 teaspoons McKay's chicken-style seasoning
1/4 cup fresh cilantro
chopped
3 teaspoons canned chopped green chiles
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 cup onion :
chopped fine
1/2 cup shredded carrots
2 cups cooked brown rice
1/2 cup to 1 cup cracker crumbs
1 cup plum tomatoes -- seeded & chopped
cooking spray
In a small microwaveable bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups water wit the seven-gra in cereal. Cover, and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Grains should be softe ned. Let sit to cool while preparing the remaining ingredients. In a blender container, blend the soft tofu to the consistency of cottage cheese. If tofu is too thick, add a small amount of water. If using egg white s, slightly beat them. In a large mixing bowl, pour blended tofu or beaten eggs and add McKay's c hicken-style seasoning, cilantro, green chiles, oregano, cumin, chili powder, a nd garlic powder. Mix well. Add the onions, carrots, rice, cracker crumbs, to matoes, and softened grain mixture. Mix well. If mixture is too thin to form burgers, add additional cracker crumbs. If mixture is too crumbly, add a few t ablespoons of water to hold mixture together. Shape into 12 patties that are 4 inches in diameter and about 1/2 inch th
ick. Spray a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and place over medium heat. Add patties and saute for about 5 minutes per side or until golden brown.

There are several different ways to make a red chili recipe and this is a competition championship chili recipe so it does not include many of those raw ingredients found in a home version of the traditional comfort food chili recipe such as onions or peppers. In competition, you can't add raw ingredients so you must use powders. INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 pounds Certified Angus Beef ® ground beef, 80% lean
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup diced onion
2 cloves minced garlic
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, divided
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 fresh Hatch or Anaheim chili peppers or 2 (4-ounce) cans diced roasted green chilies
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
4 slices white American cheese
4 teaspoons yellow mustard
2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
4 hamburger buns

Green Chili Cheese Burger Recipe | White Thunder BBQ
This was a massive burger. Think I used about 3/4 lb of 80/20 ground beef for each of the patties. Any roasted chilies will do but I happen to have a bunch of these hatch chilies left from last years harvest. A real simple recipe that packs a big flavor. I really hope you give this recipe a try!

Ingredients:
3 lbs ground beef, drained
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
One Large Bell Pepper finely diced
One Onion finely diced. Both sautéed until soft, Salting vegetables
1 30 oz. can Chili Beans
2 Cans diced tomatoes
1 can drained Kidney Beans
About 32 oz. Tomato Juice
Carroll Shelby Chili Kit (contains chili pepper, cumin, garlic and other spices)
Use the cayenne pepper packet if you like your chili hotter. The masa flour packet is to thicken your chili. All personal preferences.
