Pork and cider casserole. British sausage recipes for dinner. Pork and apple sausages. Sausage cider
Recipe here:
A sausage casserole recipe is the ultimate Autumn dinner, especially with our pork and apple sausages. As well as being hearty and great comfort food, this apple sausage casserole recipe manages to sneak in two of your five a day. Our new Outdoor Bred British sausages, Apple Porkers, are filled with a drop of honey and British bramley apples, that give this sausage recipe a delicious sweetness.
A sausage casserole is a great warming Autumn dinner if you’re looking for sausage recipe ideas. This apple sausage casserole is made even tastier thanks to the addition of a lovely cider that works perfectly with the sausages – what better combo is there than sausage and cider after all?! Serve it up with fresh sourdough or make a buttery mash for an even more hearty Autumn dinner. ‘feelingtastty’ over on Instagram came up with this recipe, using our apple sausages, and Tom and Rosie made it for our team lunch. It’s so good we had to share.
If you want to find more sausage recipes for dinner this sausage casserole recipe is a great one to try. Our pork and apple sausages add the perfect sweetness to this cider casserole recipe, with the two apple based flavours making a beautiful base to this dish. We love doing a pork casserole either by doing a casserole with sausages, or by squeezing the meat out of our sausages to make pork mince or sausage meat and using it as a sausage meat recipe. This is a great apple sausage recipe but you could still make this cider casserole recipe with our other sausages, using our Proper Porkers instead of our Apple Porkers would give this a nice herbiness and pepperiness. Any of our great taste award winning British sausages would work great with this!
We served this up with homemade bacon butter and bread so it's good if you're looking for sausage recipes with bread but you could serve this up as a sausage with potatoes recipe instead and it would still taste great. If you want recipes with sausage and bacon then its also a great shout as the cabbage is sauteed with some of our British bacon for a delicious smokiness from our Double Smoked British Bacon. Make this sausage and cider recipe in big batches for an easy cider casserole recipe you can enjoy for lunches and cook for big families. Sausage and cider are a dreamy combo so make sure to try this sausage casserole recipe ASAP and let us know what you think of the pork casserole recipe!

Sausage and Herb Stuffing
RECIPE COURTESY OF INA GARTEN
Level: Intermediate
Total: 1 hr 22 min
Prep: 25 min
Cook: 57 min
Yield: 8 to 10 servings
Ingredients
16 cups 1-inch bread cubes, white or sourdough (1 1/2 pound loaf)
8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
2 cups medium-diced yellow onion (2 onions)
1 cup medium-diced celery (2 stalks)
2 Granny Smith apples, unpeeled, cored and large-diced
2 tablespoons chopped flat-leaf parsley
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3/4 pound sweet or spicy Italian sausage, casings removed
1 cup chicken stock
1 cup dried cranberries
Directions
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
Place the bread cubes in a single layer on a sheet pan and bake for 7 minutes. Raise the oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Remove the bread cubes to a very large bowl.
Meanwhile, in a large saute pan, melt the butter and add the onions, celery, apples, parsley, salt and pepper. Saute over medium heat for 10 minutes, until the vegetables are softened. Add to the bread cubes.
In the same saute pan, cook the sausage over medium heat for about 10 minutes, until browned and cooked through, breaking up the sausage with a fork while cooking. Add to the bread cubes and vegetables.
Add the chicken stock and cranberries to the mixture, mix well, and pour into a 9 by 12-inch baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes, until browned on top and hot in the middle. Serve warm.
