How To make Turtle Cookies/Christmas Cookbook
1/2 c Packed brown sugar
1/2 c Butter or margarine;
-softened 2 tb Water
1 ts Vanilla
1 1/2 c All-purpose flour
1/8 ts Salt
Pecan halves 8 Caramels, cut in fourths
Chocolate glaze: 1 c Powdered sugar
1 tb Water
1 oz Unsweetened chocolate
Melted and cooled 1 ts Vanilla
Recipe by: CHRISTMAS COOKBOOK Mix brown sugar, margarine, water and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt until dough holds together. (If dough is dry, stir in 1-2 teaspoon water.) Heat oven to 350 degrees. For each cookie, group 3-5 pecan halves, split if necessary, on ungreased cookie sheet. Shape dough by teaspoonfuls around caramel pieces; press firmly onto center of each group of nuts. Bake until set but not brown, 12-15 minutes; cool. Dip tops of cookies into Chocolate Glaze. Glaze: Beat sugar, water. cooled chocolate and vanilla until smooth. If necessary, stir in water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until frosting is of desired consistency. (FAMILY FAVORITE) -----

If using a darker pan, reduce temperature 25F (4C) and bake an additional 5 - 10 minutes to prevent over browning.
Let cookies sit 3-5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to finish cooling.
