How To make Black Forest Cake Part 1
For the cake: 6 oz Bittersweet chocolate
cut into bits 6 tb Unsalted butter
1 ts Vanilla extract
1 c Water
6 lg Eggs; room temp
1 c Sugar
1 c Cake flour
1/2 ts Salt
For the filling: 2 lb Canned sour cherries
:
drain, reserving the -juice 1 c Sugar
5 ts Cornstarch
2 tb Kirsch
For the syrup: 1/2 c Sugar
1/2 c Water
1 c Kirsch
Whipped cream topping: -- envelope unflavored -gelatin 3 tb Kirsch
3 c Well-chilled heavy cream
1/3 c Sifted confectioner's sugar
1 ts Vanilla
1/2 c Chocolate shavings and curls
Glaceed cherries for garnish TASTE SHOW #TS4803 AIR DATES: 1/15/96, 1/16/96, 1/20/96, 1/21/96 BLACK FOREST CAKE YIELD: 8 TO 10 SERVINGS
Make the cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter three 7-inch cake pans, line them with wax paper and butter and flour the paper. In the top of a double boiler set over simmering water melt the chocolate with the butter, vanilla and water, stirring until smooth. Remove the pan from heat. Into a bowl sift together the flour and salt. In a bowl with an electric mixer beat the eggs with the sugar for 5 to 10 minutes, or until batter ribbons when beaters are lifted. Fold flour mixture into egg mixture until just combined and fold in chocolate mixture gently but thoroughly. Pour batter into pans, smoothing the tops, and bake for 10 - 15 minutes, or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pans 5 minutes. Run knife around edge of pans and invert onto racks to cool completely. See Part 2:

➡️INGREDIENTS:
????FOR CAKE :
Sugar - 1/2 cup
All purpose flour - 1 cup
Coco powder - 1/4 cup
Baking powder - 1 tsp
Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
Salt - a pinch
Eggs - 2
Vanilla extract - 1 tbsp
Melted butter - 1/4 cup
Milk - 2 tbsps
coffee powder - 1 tsp
Oil - 1 tsp
????FOR SUGAR SYRUP:
Water- 1/2 cup
Sugar - 3 tbsps
Cherries - 8 to 10
????FOR DECORATING:
Compound chocolate
Chopped cherries
????FOR WHIPPING CREAM PREPARATION:
Whipping cream powder - 1 1/4 cup
Milk (chilled) - 1 cup
Ice cubes
➡️METHOD:
????FOR BAKING CAKE:
1. Take the all purpose flour, coco powder, baking powder, baking soda and a pinch of salt , sieve all these dry ingredients together and transfer it to a mixing bowl. This is our dry ingredients.
2. Next separate the egg whites and beat it frothy.
3. Then take half cup of sugar, powder it and add little by little to the egg white mixture and beat it well till a creamy texture arrives
4. At this stage add the vanilla essence and the separated egg yolks and beat till it combines.
5. Now add the melted butter to it and mix everything well, our wet ingredients are ready now.
6. Now add the dry ingredients little by little to the wet ingredients , fold and mix gently. Don't use beater here.
7. Take some 2 tbsps of hot milk and add coffee powder and dissolve it completely.
8. Now add the coffee mixture to the cake batter and mix everything together.
9. Grease some oil over the pressure cooker and place the baking sheet. Now pour the cake batter over the pressure cooker.
????WITHOUT OVEN:
10. Heat an iron tawa and place the pressure cooker over it. Remove the gasket and close the lid .
11. Bake for about 45 minutes at low flame.
????FOR OVEN:
Pour the batter in a cake tin. Preheat the oven for 10 mins. Bake the cake at 190 degrees for 35 to 40 mins.
When the cake is baked, allow it to cool completely .Now divide it into 3 layers evenly.
????SUGAR SYRUP PREPARATION:
13. Add water, sugar and red cherries | candied karonda in pan ,heat untill the sugar dissolves completely. Let it cool down.
????CHOCOLATE FOR DECORATION:
14. Take Compound chocolate or any dark chocolate scrap it using potato peeler to make a bark like shavings and keep it aside.
????HOW TO MAKE CREAM FROM WHIPPING CREAM POWDER:
Note: What ever we are using for making whipping cream (like bowl, beater, whippingcreampowder) keep it in the refrigerator (freezer) for 10 to 15 minutes.
15. Take a big bowl add some ice cubes. Place another bowl over the ice cubes and place whipping cream powder over it.
16. Now add a cup of chilled milk little by little and beat it using an electric beater.
17. Beat it until a stiff peak forms. Now our whipping cream is ready.
????CAKE DECORATION:
18. Apply the sugar syrup on 3 layers of the cake.
19. Take first layer of cake, spread some cream over it.
20. Place the second layer over it and spread some cream . Then sprinkle some chopped cherries and scrapped chocolates over it.
21. Now place the 3rd layer over the second layer frost the top and sides of the cake.
22. Fill some cream on the piping bag for decorating.
23. Pipe rounds of frosting ( whipping cream) around the top of the cake and place a whole cherry over alternate one.
24. Cover sides and top of cake with chocolate shavings leaving the pipe rounds.
25. Refrigerate the cake for 2 hours or overnight before serving.
