Beef Rendang for Chris
Recipe
- 10 dried small chillies deseeded (leave them in if you like it spicy)
- 4 shallots
- 2 lemongrass sticks
- 5 garlic cloves
- 5 Candlenut
- Pinky-size peace turmeric
- Thump-size piece ginger
- Thumb-size piece galangal
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp grapeseed oil (or peanut)
- 1.2kg stewing beef (chuck, brisket, short rib or shank work well)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 star anise
- 4 cloves
- 4 cardamom pods
- 4 kaffir lime leaves
- 400ml coconut milk
- 1 tbsp palm sugar
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- 40g shredded coconut
method
1. In a food processor or blender (FYI if you use a blender it might taste like curry for a little while), blend the chillies, shallots, lemongrass, ginger, galangal, salt and 2 tbsp oil.
2. Dice the beef into 2cm cubes.
3. In a heavy based pot, add the rest of the oil and place onto a med-high heat. Once hot, add the curry paste and cook for 5 minutes until fragrant.
4. Add the beef to the pot and stir until the beef is covered in the paste.
5. Add the coconut milk and the rest of the dry spices and bring to a very low simmer. Cook for 1.5 hours with the lid on.
6. While this is cooking, place the coconut in a dry frypan and toast until it has a nice colour but not burnt. Place the toasted coconut into a mortar and pestle and pound it into a paste.
7. Once the beef is tender, remove the lid and add the tamarind, palm sugar and coconut paste you just made. Stir and reduce this until the curry is at the consistency you are happy with.
8. Serve with rice and enjoy!
This is the MOST Powerful marinade I ever tried on a Brisket and it's called Rendang

How To Make Beef Rendang - Indonesia’s No. 1 Beef Curry | Naz It Up
How to make Beef Rendang-Indonesia’s No 1 Beef Curry Video Tutorial
Beef Rendang is slow cooked to perfection in rendang curry paste, coconut milk, kerisik (toasted grated coconut butter) and tamarind juice.
How to Make Rendang Curry Paste
Throw in all the raw ingredients into the blender, add a quarter cup of water and blend until a smooth paste is attained. Transfer the rendang curry paste into a bowl and set it aside.
How to Make Beef Rendang Curry
Heat oil in a dutch oven or heavy bottom pan. Add the bruised lemongrass stalks, followed by the Rendang curry paste. Saute in medium flame upto 10 min until the water in the Rendang curry paste evaporates and the curry paste turns slightly dark. Add the powdered and dry spices (coriander, cinnamon, star anise, cardamon, bay leaves) and mix until well incorporated with the curry paste. Add the beef pieces, saute for upto 10 min or until the beef loses its raw/red color.
Add the coconut milk, scape the bottom of the pot to make sure no curry paste is sticking to the bottom of the pot. Add salt, palm sugar and kaffir lime leaves. Cover and let the Beef Rendang curry simmer in medium-low flame for an hour. Keep checking and stirring every 15-20 min.
Take the lid off after 2 hours of covered cooking and bring the flame to medium, allowing the curry to further reduce. Prepare the Kerisik but toasting grated coconut on medium flame for around 10 min or until it has turned caramel colour. Pound the grated coconut in a mortar once it has slightly cooled, into a fine paste. Add the Kerisik into the Rendang curry and mix well.
Prepare the tamarind paste, add to the Rendang curry and mix well. After around 3 hours, a thick, rich, caramelized Rendang Beef curry is ready.
Serve the Beef Rendang Curry with warm aromatic rice.

The BEST Shaking Beef Recipe! (Bo Luc Lac)
Hello Hi! My name is Alissa and I'm the creator behind Gaming Foodie on Instagram, Tiktok and now Youtube.
Bo luc lac which translates to shaking beef is a recipe everyone has tries if they are new to Vietnamese cuisine. It's very easy to make and the ingredients are very accessible. Bo luc lac is pretty much steak and onions with an Asian infused flavor.
You can find this dish at many Vietnamese dishes but you will rarely ever see me ordering this at a restaurant because 1) it's expensive at restaurants and 2) it's SO easy to make that you can make it your self. My recipe is THE BEST recipe out there, I haven't met a single person who did not like my recipe.
When making this dish, I recommend using a fairly good cut of beef like ribeye or filet mignon. I'd stay clear of cuts that aren't marbled. Cut your beef into 1 inch cubes and marinate over night for best results!
For this version, I serve it with noodles but you can also serve it with rice. This it the recipe if you want to serve it with rice:

Phoenix, Arizona, USA
For me, one of the ultimate American food meals to eat is awesome BBQ - when the meat is smoked perfectly so it slides off the bone, and the flavor is packed full of insane smokiness. My brother in law Derek had already been to Little Miss BBQ, but it was my first time to eat here, and I was so excited.
I arrived a little over an hour early to get in line, but luckily as soon as you pull up you get a number so that you don’t actually have to wait in line the entire time.
Scott and the entire crew at Little Miss BBQ are amazing, and you can immediately feel their passion and their genuine love for what they do and for the people they get to interact with everyday as a result of serving the best BBQ in Phoenix! Scott and his wife have an interesting and amazing grassroots history and start to their BBQ business. They first started making BBQ at home just because they loved doing it. Eventually they started competing in American BBQ competitions. At the beginning things didn’t go so well, but they kept going and perfecting their BBQ recipes and eventually started to win some of the competitions. Eventually they opened Little Miss BBQ, and it’s one of the best BBQ spots you’ll ever eat at.
So after getting the full tour of the restaurant and all the smoked meat, it was about time to open. You line up outside and the actual inside is quite small - most people either takeaway or eat outside.
I wanted to try a little of everything, so we got a giant tray of smoked BBQ meat including pork ribs, pulled pork, turkey, sausage, brisket, and beef ribs, with sides. Total price for the entire tray came to $92.70 - that was a lot of meat!
Thanks to my brother in law Derek for coming out to eat as well. We started with the beef ribs, and those are the best of the best. The meat falls apart and it was so insanely juicy and flavorful. The BBQ brisket will also blow you mind with its massive meaty flavor and juiciness. Finally my other top meat was the sausage, including jalapeno and a mix of meat and bacon.
Lastly, you have to eat your American food bbq feast with their famous pecan pie. And even though I’m not into sweets, a few bites at the end was amazing.
Little Miss BBQ is a phenomenal BBQ restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona. Not only will the quality and taste of the meat blow you away, but the passion of Scott and the entire crew are so genuine and so friendly, and that’s what makes it so good.
Thank you for watching this BBQ video!
