Simple Baked Beans: EASY RECIPE

Uncle Scott shows how to cook baked beans, using a sweet Southern recipe he learned from his Mom in Alabama.
RECIPE FOR BAKED BEANS
Ingredients
- 2 28 oz. cans Pork and Beans
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar (add half first, stir, and adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard (add half first, stir, and adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- black pepper to taste (1/2 teaspoon is a good start)
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- two slices bacon (optional)
- NO SALT: there is plenty in the ingredients already
1. In a mixing bowl, combine ketchup, onion, mustard powder, pepper, and half of the mustard and brown sugar. Combine well. Taste, and slowly add the rest of the yellow mustard and brown sugar to taste.
2. Allow mixture to sit 4 - 5 minutes, until the brown sugar is incorporated and not gritty.
3. In the meantime, open and drain the two can of pork and beans. Drained beans will produce thicker final baked beans, You can also use them undrained, if you want saucier beans. You can drain them over a bowl and reserve the liquid and add 1/4th cup at a time before baking. In the video, they are drained.
4. Combine beans with mixture and stir until well combined. Pour into a baking dish.
5. OPTIONAL: Add two pieces of bacon to the top, sliced and arranged however you want. You CAN add more, but the beans will get greasy. If you do so, remove the beans 15 minutes early and spoon the extra bacon grease from the top, then return to the oven to finish cooking.
6. Bake the beans in a pre-heated oven for one hour, 350F for most people, 375 F for those of us at higher altitude. As Mom says, they are done when the bacon is done. The bacon will not be crisp like fried bacon, but it will be cooked thoroughly.
7. Remove and allow to sit for at least 10 minutes.
8. Devour, or save for later. They are great warm or even cold, or even as a nice midnight snack.

My mom’s original baked beans recipe has always been absolutely delicious all on its own with just the few simple ingredients she would use. However, to honor my mom and her baked beans recipe the Lila’s Best Eatz way I’m going to show you guys how I took my mom’s baked beans recipe up a notch and elevated it without compromising the integrity of her original recipe by simply adding a few extra ingredients. The additional ingredients that I selectively chose to use most definitely give my mom’s baked beans recipe a flavor profile that is undeniably delicious because this upgraded version of my mom’s baked beans recipe is sticky, sweet, but not too sweet, tangy with the perfect balance of applewood bacon and caramelized onion. Onion
Light Brown Sugar
Mustard
Liquid Smoke
Bacon
Barbeque Sauce

2-28 Ounce Cans Bush's Baked Beans
9-10 Slices of Bacon (chopped)
1 Small Onion (diced)
1/2 teaspoon Liquid Smoke
1/2 Tablespoon Ground Mustard
1/2 Cup Barbeque Sauce
1/3 Cup Light Brown Sugar
Instructions
Add the bacon to a large skillet over medium heat. Separate and cook the bacon in one even layer. When done remove the bacon from the skillet and place it onto a paper plate. Add the diced onion to the skillet and incorporate it into the bacon grease. Cook the onion until it's soft, translucent, and caramelized. Remove the onion from the skillet and place onto a paper plate. To a large casserole dish add the baked beans, onion, liquid smoke, brown. sugar, mustard, barbeque sauce and bacon. Mix the ingredients well until they are fully incorporated. Preheat the oven and place the baked beans into the center, set a bake time for one hour. When the baked beans are done remove them from the oven and enjoy.

Mama's awesome Baked Beans
This is by far one of the best baked beans recipe I have ate. Besides my Aunt Gloria God rest her soul she was the Queen at making these but my Mom has taken the crown with these our family totally loves her recipe and we ask her to make them at every gathering. baked beans from scratch:
1 cup dry navy beans
1 cup ketchup
2 tsp sugar
salt
1 tsp pepper
- soak your beans in water overnight
- drain the beans and cook in salted water till the beans are tender (takes about 10 min in pressure cooker)
- transfer the cooked beans to a hot pan along with ketchup, sugar and pepper
- let this simmer for atleast 15 min before serving hot on toast as shown in the video!
