Strawberries and Cream Popcorn for Valentine's Day - with yoyomax12
This popcorn make a delicious little Valentine's Day treat if you give it out in cute little themed treat bags.
12 cups popped popcorn (about 1.5 bags of microwave popcorn)
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup white or light corn syrup
1/2 cup white sugar
1 package strawberry gelatin powder
1 cup freeze dried strawberries, coarsely chopped.
9 oz white candy melts or white bark or white chocolate
Any add ins you want:
sprinkles
Valentine's day candies
Red/pink smarties
Marshmallows
Pop the popcorn and place it in a large bowl.
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan ove medium heat, add in sugar, corn syrup and jello powder. Cook and stir over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a gentle boil. Continue to gently boil and stir for 4 minutes.
Remove from heat and immediately pour over the popcorn in a large bowl.
Stir to coat popcorn.
Pour coated popcorn onto a large cookie sheet or baking pan that has been covered with aluminum foil and the foil greased.
Place in the oven at 300F for 15 minutes. Every five minutes open oven and stir popcorn, trying to distribute the coating evenly on all pieces.
Remove from oven and allow to cool completely at room temperature.
Break up cooled popcorn into small pieces and put into large bowl.
Melt the candy melts and pour over the coated popcorn. Stir until coated and then stir in strawberries.
Place on a cookie sheet (same one you used before, with the foil) and spread out. While the candy coating is still wet (not hardened) sprinkle with whatever candy or sprinkles you want.
Allow to cool completely ( in refrigerator if desired) until hardened.
Break up into bite sized pieces, sprinkle with additional candies/sprinkles if desired.
**NOTE*** Clean up of the saucepan is easy, just submerge the pan in some hot soapy water and the candy stuck to it will just dissolve away after a few minutes.
