How To make Apple Black Walnut Cake
Mrs. roberta johnson 1 c Sugar
3/4 c Cooking oil
2 Eggs
1 1/2 c Flour
1 c Black walnuts; chopped
1 ts Baking soda
1 ds Salt
1 ts Vanilla
2 c Unpeeled chopped apple
icing:
4 tb Butter
1 ts Vanilla
1/2 lb Confectioner's sugar
Mix sugar and oil. Add eggs, beat until fluffy. Sift dry ingredients together and add to sugra, oil, and egg mixture. Blend in vanilla. fold in black walnuts and chopped apples. Pour into a well greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350~F for 40 minutes. ICING: Soften butter and blend with powdered sugar. Add vanilla. Use cream to blend to a spreadable consistency. Spread on cake. NOTE: For holiday gift giving, I like to bake this recipe in four miniature loaf pans, wrap in plastic wrap, and tie with a bow. This is nice with a cup of hot tea. Happy cooking. Katie's Black Walnut Cake & Glaze:
- 2 sticks softened Butter
- 3 cups sifted All-purpose Flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 4 Eggs
- 2-1/2 cups of Sugar
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 cups Black Walnuts
Pre-heat oven to 350°F
In a bowl, combine butter and sugar,
Add one egg at a time while blending.
Also add flour and baking powder (sifted together)
Add milk slowly to creamy mixture
Lastly, add Walnuts
Piur into greased bundt pan
Bake at 350°F for approx. 60 to 75 minutes (depending on oven)
Ingredients for the glaze:
- 2 cups Sugar
- 1 stick Butter
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
Combine all ingredients in a pan on the stove.
Bring to a boil. Remove.
Beat mixture for 1 minute
Immediately pour glaze over the cake (slowly).
