Tips for success:
Wilton's Cookie Icing recommends microwaving slightly and shaking well before use for easier squeeze and flood. Wilton's icing is a ready to use flooding icing, and it floods and fills easily. This method is great for fast production and for the kiddos.
The Wilton Cookie Icing fills in areas quickly, so leave a large area in the center without icing if you want the center cutout of your ribbon.
CK's Royal Icing is sold in 1 pound bags. Just add water and mix to create the perfect royal icing. Add more water just a few drops at a time to reach a consistency that fills in and slowly smooths out the top of your cookie.
Using super chilled sugar cookie or shortbread dough, roll to your preferred thickness and cut your cookies. Kneading and over working your dough causes tough cookies. We only roll ours twice. the scrap bits are baked off and we eat them as snacks. :) Chill thoroughly before baking to reduce spreading of the cookies.
Wait until the top of the icing starts to crust a little before adding sprinkles. This will keep the sprinkles from sinking to the bottom.
