A cappuccino Italian pronunciation Italian (plural: cappuccini) is an espresso-based coffee drink that originated in Italy, and is traditionally prepared with steamed milk foam (microfoam). Outside of Italy, cappuccino is a coffee drink that today is typically composed of a single espresso shot and hot milk, with the surface topped with foamed milk. Cappuccinos are most often prepared with an espresso machine. The espresso is poured into the bottom of the cup, followed by a similar amount of hot milk, which is prepared by heating and texturing the milk using the espresso machine steam wand. The top third of the drink consists of milk foam; this foam can be decorated with artistic drawings made with the same milk, called latte art.
Cappuccino traditionally has a layer of textured milk microfoam exceeding 1 cm in thickness; microfoam is frothed/steamed milk in which the bubbles are so small and so numerous that they are not seen, but it makes the milk lighter and thicker. As a result, the microfoam will remain partly on top of the mug when the espresso is poured in correctly as well as mix well with the rest of the cappuccino. |

Chocolate-Espresso Truffles
Chocolate + Espresso = Bliss.
We want to start by saying these can and more importantly should be made year round. That being said there is something special about chocolate truffles during the holiday season, something really, really special. They are a simple snack to keep in the fridge and an even better snack to package up and give away! I mean, we have all be caught off guard sans-gift when someone is presenting you with one. So alas, the chocolate truffle is here to save the day.
Start by heating up heavy cream over a medium heat, once it boils add in a teaspoon of espresso powder. Let boil and then strain and add the hot mixture to semi-sweet chocolate. This simple truffle recipe is taken to the next level by infusing the cream with espresso. Once the mixtures sets in the fridge you can roll it into balls and coat it in your topping of choice. As chocoholics we picked cocoa powder. Return these lovely creations back to the fridge to store and you are all set.
