Martha Stewart’s Multigrain Bread | Martha Bakes Recipes | Martha Stewart
Martha Stewart shares the recipe and bread-making technique for her classic multigrain bread. In this video, Martha takes us through how to make a dough starter with active dry yeast, whole wheat flour, rye flour, soaked bulgar wheat, and cooked wheat berries. After waiting for the dough to rise, you’ll brush it with egg whites which work as an adhesive for the decorative grain topping (made of oats, flax, and sunflower seeds). Cool thoroughly before slicing, and you’ll have wonderful bread for sandwiches, toast for breakfast, or just a bread and butter snack!

Honey Wheat Bread Recipe
Ingredients
1 1/2 Tbsp. instant yeast
2 cups warm water
1/2 cup honey
4 cups whole wheat
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup rolled oats
Directions
Add yeast, warm water and honey into your mixing bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes, until the yeast bubbles a bit. Then gradually add in salt, rolled oats and whole wheat flour. Mix together until all ingredients are combined. Switch to the hook attachment (if using a kitchen aid mixer) & knead for 4 minutes on medium setting. Gradually adding up to 3/4 cup more until dough isn't sticking to the sides. Then move dough into a greased bowl, and cover with a towel until it doubles in size. After the dough has risen to double its size, softly punch the dough down and shape it into a loaf shape. Place dough into a greased loaf pan, and cover again with a kitchen towel. At this time go ahead and preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Let the dough rise one more time for about 30-40 minutes, and then bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Let the dough cool before slicing. Enjoy!!
*notes - if you don't have a kitchen aid mixer, you can still make this bread, you with just have to mix it by hand and then knead it by hand.

RECIPE:
THREE INGREDIENT, ONE-RISE WHOLE WHEAT BREAD
You’ll not believe how easy this recipe is. You’ll want to make this loaf over and over again.
INGREDIENTS
4 ½ cups whole wheat flour (450 grams, or 1 lb)
1 3/4 to 2 cups very warm water
1 teaspoon salt
2 ½ teaspoons dry instant yeast (or quick rise)
(Optional: 1 teaspoon sugar)
HOW TO MAKE:
In a large measuring cup, sprinkle the yeast over the warm water. If you are going to add sugar, add it at this time. Stir well to dissolve the yeast. Set aside for approximately 5-10 minutes to activate the yeast.
In a large bowl, add the whole wheat flour and salt. Combine.
Once the yeast is proved, add it to the flour. Stir all to make sure the flour has absorbed the water. If the mixture is a bit too wet, add a little flour. If it’s too dry, add a little bit of water. With your hand gently turn the mixture over to mix it all together.
Place the dough on a floured surface. Briefly pull the dough into a ball and the flatten it out into a rectangular shape and roll it together to create a loaf shape. Into a greased 8” x 5” loaf pan, add the dough. Lightly cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise to just above the rim of the loaf pan (approximately 35-40 minutes.)
In the meantime, set your oven at 400 degrees. The oven rack should be in the middle position.
Once the bread has risen, place it in the oven. Bake for 40 minutes, until golden brown and it sounds hollow on the bottom of the loaf if you tap it with your knuckles. If you have a kitchen thermometer, the temp should be around 120 degrees.
Place bread on a cooling rack for 5 minutes. Remove it from the pan and allow to cool for about 30 minutes before attempting to slice it. DELICIOUS!!
