SANGRIA | How to prepare this classic Spanish red wine and fruit drink
If you visited Spain you most probably know sangria. Maybe you had some in a restaurant or a bar. It is normally served for lunch or dinner and the typical thing to do is to order a pitcher to share with your family or friends. If you make it at home, make sure you serve it cold and with plenty of ice.
Learn how to make sangría in few steps. These are the ingredients for a large pitcher:
- 1 bottle of red wine (750 ml)
- 1 small bottle (or a can) of soda (you can use orange or lemon soft drink instead)
- Few fruits (4 to 8 pieces): most common are citrus (orange and/or lemon) and peach. Apples and pears are also also common
- 1 cinnamon stick (if you don't fancy cinnamon, just skip it)
- ice cubes
Instructions: Peel the citrus and get as much juice as you can from the citrus. Mix the juice and peel and reserve. add the rest of the fruits in cubes and/or slices and the cinnamon stick. Mix with the wine and let it sit for at least a couple of hours in the fridge. Just before serving add the soda to your taste (more if you like sangria lighter) and serve with ice cubes. Enjoy!!
