Chicken 1 Kg
Onions 750 gm
Garlic 2 whole
Ginger 2 inch
Curd 1 cup/200 ml
Green chillies 10-12
Dry red chillies 6-7
Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
Cinnamon stick 1
Bay leaves 3
Green cardamom 7
Black cardamom 3
Cloves 9-10
Mace flower
Black pepper 25-26
Salt 1 tsp
Yellow chilli powder 1 tsp
Crushed whole coriander 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder 2-3 pinch
Some coriander leaves
Mustard Oil 150-200 ml
Water as required
How to make Gujarati Kadhi | Spicy Yoghurt Soup | Cook With Me
This warming soup is bursting with flavours and spice - true Indian comfort food. Perfect with a steaming bowl of rice on a cold night in although, you can enjoy this beautiful soup at any time of the year!
Serves 8
3 cups plain yoghurt (dahi)
3 tbsp gram flour (besan)
1/2 tsp turmeric (haldi)
2 tsp salt (or to taste)
2 tbsp clarified butter (ghee)
1 tsp mustard seeds (rai)
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds (methi)
2 curry leaves
2 dried red chillies
2 cloves
1 piece cinnamon
2 tbsp ginger chilli garlic paste ( 4 cloves garlic, 10 chillies, 1 inch ginger blended into a paste)
4 green chillies sliced
1/2 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped.
water as required
Whisk the yoghurt, tumeric, salt and water until smooth.
Melt the ghee and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, cinnamon, curry leaves, dried chillies crackle until fragrant. Add in yoghurt mixture. Simmer for 15 minutes and add chilli, ginger garlic paste and green chillies and simmer for 1 hr. Stir in chopped coriander and serve hot over steaming rice.

The Magnificent Seven formed eight years ago and consist of a group of seven friends who, put simply, LOVE curry!
Based in Slough, the group of curry Kings have scoured the UK and the globe in search of a tasty curry every Thursday! Closer to home they have travelled to the likes of Reading, London and Manchester but they have also travelled as far afield as Australia and Spain for their weekly curry fix where, most notably, they walked two miles to a supermarket and cooked a curry from scratch as there was no curry house in sight! On a rare occasion, they have had to miss out on their weekly curry get together. But, in their words, one of us...somewhere will be eating a curry on a Thursday night!
Needless to say, the Magnificent Seven take their curry experiences very seriously and even rate the curry houses that they visit out of 10 depending on service, the locals and of course the food! Theyre always eager to try something new though and often invite the waiters to recommend dishes for them to sample.
Come next year they plan to go to India to be at the home of the curry, and will soon be able to replace their old polo shirts thanks to Cobra who are supplying them with new ones for their Thursday night curry outings!
