Garlic Teriyaki Chicken Thighs | How to Make Teriyaki Chicken | Homemade Teriyaki Sauce Recipe
I promise you this Teriyaki Chicken recipe is just as good as takeout!! The best part about it is it’s super quick and easy. I whipped this up in less than 45 minutes!
INGREDIENTS:
1lb of boneless skinless chicken thighs (or any meat of your choice)
2 tsp of salt, black pepper, and garlic powder
2 tbs of cooking oil of your choice
TERIYAKI SAUCE:
1/2 cup of soy sauce
1/4 cup of water
1/4 + 2 tbs of brown sugar
1/2 tsp of sesame oil
1 tsp of ginger paste
1/2 tbs of rice vinegar
6 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tsp of red pepper flakes (optional)
1 tsp of cornstarch (omit if using as a marinade)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Drizzle oil over your cleaned chicken then season w/ salt, pepper, and garlic powder or seasoning of your choice. Set aside.
2. Add sauce ingredients to a bowl and whisk them together until well combined. Set aside. (Remember to leave out the cornstarch if you’re using this as a marinade.)
3. Sear chicken in a skillet over medium high heat, until golden brown. About 4 minutes per side.
4. Once all chicken is browned, add it all back to the pan. Pour over your teriyaki sauce mixture and bring chicken to a simmer over medium heat. About 4/5 minutes.
5. When your sauce begins to simmer, reduce the heat to low and cover. Cook for about 10 minutes.
6. After 10 minutes, flip your chicken and replace the lid. Simmer for another 7-10 minutes.
7. Turn the heat off and serve w/ plain white rice or try out my easy fried rice recipe! Here’s the link for the video:
**TIP FOR STORING LEFTOVERS: b/c of the cornstarch the sauce congeals when it’s chilled in the fridge. I suggest storing your chicken in one container and the sauce in its own separate container. This will make it easier to heat up portions of your leftovers rather than all of it at once b/c it’s all stuck together.
**IF USING AS A MARINADE:
* Leave out the cornstarch when mixing the sauce.
* Pour mixture over meat of your choice. Marinate for 3-4 hours.
Enjoy!!

Ingredients
3 large chicken breasts
½ cup sugar
½ cup soy sauce or teriyaki sauce or a combination of both
2 tablespoons fresh grated ginger or 3 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoon minced garlic
Instructions
Mix sugar through garlic in a large mixing bowl.
Chop chicken into bite size chunks. (Note - Chopping raw chicken is icky. I know some of you are not bothered by raw meat, but most of you know that I am. It's just something I avoid if at all possible. When I do have to chop raw chicken, I prefer to do it if it is still semi-frozen. Yes, it is very cold to handle, but it is also a lot less icky.)
Add chicken to the sugar soy sauce marinade in the large mixing bowl. Mix well.
Pour chicken mixture into prepared pan. Cover the top of the chicken and let sit in refrigerator at least 1 hour.
When you are ready to bake, take the dish out of the refrigerator. Preheat oven to 350 F (175 C). (Or 400 degrees but adjust cooking time) Bake for 30-40 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and no longer pink.
Serve over rice. Yum!
