1 c Sunflower seeds
1 ts Oil, if desired
1/4 ts Salt, if desired
Preheat oven to 325 F (slow). Mix sunflower seeds with oil only if salt is used. Spread plain or oiled seeds on baking sheet. Bake about 8 minutes or until lightly browned. (Watch carefully, these seeds brown quickly.) Sprinkle oiled seeds with salt while hot. Ahh fall, the sunflower seeds are in and one can use them in bird seed or whatever one likes, but I really like to eat them....ROASTED.
If your at all concerned about seeds being dirty your can soak then in salt brine verses just washing them. We dont sun dry the seeds either which can be done, if you sun dry soak them for safety sake. We do use a oven at 250 for hour this will also kill off and bacteria on them plus they are salted and washed.
