Easy, Original Chocolate Pecan Pie
The creation of pecan pie is said originally belongs to Alabama, United States back in 1800s. It is very delicious of course and is a perfect dessert to give a delightful colour to your weekends or holidays. It is very easy to prepare and you can make it always yourself instead of dreaming having it in a restaurant only.
Pie Crust Ingredients:
1/5 cup Plain FlourRefrigerated
3 tbsp Ice Cold Water
125 gram ButterChopped & Frozen
Pinch of Salt
Pie Filling Ingredients:
1 cup Chopped Pican
2 pcs EggLightly Beaten
40 gram Melted Butter
1 cup Chocolate Chips
1/3 cup Brown Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
Pinch of Salt
Recipe Notes:
It is very important our pie crust ingredients to be ice cold at the time of preparation of the dough.
If you don't find pecan, you can replace it with walnuts.
Since we are using the sweet chocolate chips in this pie, I didn't add the corn syrup to prevent the extra sweetness.
Pie Crust Instruction:
Preheat the oven to 180 C/356F.
Place the flour and pinch of salt in food processor and mix it.
Then add the frozen butter and mix it for 5 to 10 seconds.
Remove the lid of the food processor and start adding the ice cold water by 1 table spoon at a time and mix it.
Once the dough just start coming together, it is time to stop adding water and remove the dough from the food processor.
Bring the dough in a whole ball and place it in a plastic bag and keep it in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
Sprinkle some flour on the surface where you want to prepare the pie crust;
Remove the dough from the fridge and place it over the floury surface and sprinkle some flour over the dough as well.
start creating a pie crust using a rolling pin until you reach to the desired size. (The desired size depends on the pie pan you have).
Carefully spread the crust over the pie pan and fit it inside the pan.
Remove the extra edges and play with the crust edges to create a beautiful edge according to your taste.
Once the pie crust is done, bring it back to the fridge until our filling is prepared.
Filling Instruction:
Add the pecan to the beaten eggs.
As well as the brown sugar.
As well as the melted butter.
As well as the vanilla.
And a pinch of salt. And mix well.
To melt the chocolate chips, bring the water to boil in a cooking pot and place a steel container to fit over the pot under the boiling water.
Place the chocolate chips into the container and let it melt.
Once the chocolate chips is melted completely, remove it from the pot.
And add it to the mixture of pie filling and mix it well.
Bring out the pie crust from the fridge and pour all the pie filling inside the pie crust.
Place the pie inside the over under the 180C/356F for one hour and let it bake.
After one hour remove the pie from the oven and let it cool down completely on room temperature before slicing it.
Once the pie is completely cooled, slice the pie and enjoy it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
