How To make Goan Style Mussels
36 ea Mussels
1 ea Inch of ginger peeled and
-coarsley chopped 8 ea Garlic cloves peeled
350 ml Water
4 tb Vegetable oil
6 ea Onions peeled and chopped
1 ea Hot green chilli sliced into
-thin rounds 1/2 ts Tumeric
2 ts Ground cumin
1/2 ea Fresh coconut finely grated
1/2 ts Salt
Wash mussels well. Remove beards, any that are open when tapped, any broken ones and any that float. Blend garlic and ginger. Add 120ml of water and blend until smooth. Heat oil in a large pan. When hot add onion and fry until translucent. Now add the paste from the blender with chillies, tumeric, and cumin and fry for 1 minute. Add coconut, salt and remainder of water. Bring to boil. Add the mussels, mix well. Bring to boil. Cover and lower heat. Let mussels steam for 6 to 10 minutes or until they open. Discard any that don't open. Serve immediately.

???? Mussels fry is a very delicious Mussels recipe that is made mostly in South India, where it is also called Kallummakaya fry. It is one of the best seafood recipes for dinner. There are very few Mussels Recipe Indian style that are as spicy and tangy as this one. We have used large Clams to make this Yummy Mussel Fry. But you can also make this with smaller clams or even shrimp. The minimal use of spice powders gives this Mussels Indian Style recipe a very natural flavor. Mussels chilli fry | Mussels stir fry (Goan Style)
This Mussels recipe was discovered by me when I was trying to make a version of Mussels I ate in Goa
I loved it and came back and tried to make a similar version of it and yes I was successful at it ????
Ingredients
500 gms Mussels (Cleaned and washed)
2 potatoes cut in medium cubes
2 large onions sliced
5 to 5 gloves of garlic julienne cut
4 inch piece of ginger julienne cut
5 to 6 green chillies slit cut
1/2 tea spoon pepper powder
1 and 1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
2 table spoons lemon juice
4 table spoons fresh coriander chopped
2 tea spoons salt
4 to 5 table spoons oil
Method
Wash and clean the Mussels and add 1 tea spoon salt, 1 tea spoon turmeric powder and 2 table spoons lemon juice. Mix well and keep aside
In a pan add add oil and fry the potato cubes until slightly golden
Add the sliced onions and fry for 2 minutes on medium heat
Add the sliced garlic, ginger, green chillies and salt and fry for 5 minutes
Add pepper powder, turmeric powder and fresh coriander and cook everything for 6 to 8 minutes until the onions reduce to half
Now add the Mussels kept aside and stir fry for 2 minutes and then cover and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes
Open and garnish with chopped coriander and serve
This goes well with naan bread , roti or parathas or just as a starter too
You can also pair this with simple dal and rice
