Orange Cookies | Easy Recipe with 1 Orange
Orange Cookies Easy Recipe with 1 Orange. These delicious orange cookies melt in your mouth and have the most delightful flavor.
Ingredients:
* 125g (1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons) butter
, softened
* 100g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
* 1 large egg
* 1 orange (using both the peel and the juice)
* 375g (3 cups) all-purpose flour
* 5g (1 teaspoon) baking powder
* 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
* 1 egg yolk and 1 teaspoon yogurt/milk for the top
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar.
3. Beat in the egg until well combined. Add in the vanilla extract if using.
4. Mix in the orange zest and juice. The orange zest will provide a strong orange flavor, and the juice will add moisture.
Feel free to use more than 1 orange if you wish (will need to adjust the amount of flour too).
5. Add in the baking powder and then gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms. The amount of flour you use will depend on the amount of juice you got from the orange. If the dough is too sticky, add in more flour.
6. Place a sheet of baking paper (or baking mat) on a flat surface. Place the cookie dough on the paper and cover it with another sheet of baking paper. Roll out the dough to your desired thickness with a rolling pin. The thicker the dough, the softer the cookie will be, and vice versa.
7. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the rolled-out dough. Carefully transfer the cut shapes to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
8. Mix the egg yolk with yogurt (or milk) to create an egg wash. Brush this mixture on top of each cookie generously. Use a fork to gently create patterns on the cookies.
9. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown.
10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
11. Once the cookies are cooled, you can enjoy your homemade orange-flavored treats!
Feel free to add in your favourite filling or icing to these refreshing cookies!
