Hawaiian Roast Pork | #FLYRecVid EP 19
This video will show you how Lau made the Hawaiian Pork that was inside Bean Curd Rolls (EP 18). Why did we make this recipe? Only 1 reason really... because Pork Shoulder was on sale.(Seriously, under $1.50/lb who could resist?) haha.
This recipe goes to prove that buying meat on sale doesn't mean you can't have delicious food. We call this Hawaiian Pork simply because it reminds us of roast pork we'd have in Hawaii and of course the pineapple made it that much more convincing. ;) This might even be an original recipe, we're not really sure. *SHRUG* If you have seen a similar recipe, do let us know.
We hope you enjoy. OH! and this time (1:10 in video), his tying skills have improved (since the turkey video). haha.
Happy Eating!
(Recipe for 1 of 3 rolls in video)

*1-2 lbs of Pork shoulder, butterfly into 2cm thickness
*1 Stalk Tokyo Onion
*1/4 bunch of Parsley
*2 Long strips of Pineapple
*1 Tbsp of Paprika
Sauce/ Seasoning for Pork
*3 Tbsp of Sugar
*1 Cup Soy Sauce (Kikkoman – Japanese Style soy sauce)
*6 Cloves of Garlic
*1/2 Cup Sake
*1/4 Cup Mirin
Instructions:
1. Portion the pork into a flat piece of pork shoulder into 2cm thick.
2. In a small pot, heat the sugar, soy sauce, garlic, mirin and sake. Cool the marinate, then add marinate to pork. Marinate pork for at least 24 hours.
3. Pierce the pork skin with a paring knife, the skin will roast to a crunchy texture.
4. Stuff the pork with pineapple, Tokyo onion, Parsley, and paprika. Then tie with the pork into a roll.
5. Heat oven to 375F and roast the pork for ~1hour. Or until the internal temperature hits 155F.
6. Cut pork roast into slice and enjoy. Remember to save the pork jus for instant noodles.

HOW TO SMOKE PORK LOIN
______________________________________________________________
INGREDIENTS:
- 6-7 lbs Pork loin roast (Cut int half)
- Pineapple Juice
- Postal Barbecue Original Rub (see website to order)
PINEAPPLE BBQ SAUCE
- 1 Cup Ketchup
- 1 Cup Pineapple Juice
- 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 Tbs Molasses
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
STEP #1
To prepare your smoked pork loin, take your full 7lb (approx.) pork loin and cut it in half to help make it a little more manageable to work with. Next, take your injection needle and inject pineapple juice into the center of each of the pieces of pork. Once your pork loin has been injected, season it using our Postal Barbecue ORIGINAL RUB or your favourite pork style bbq rub.
Step #2
With your pork loin prepared, set up the Pit Barrel Cooker for cooking around 275 using the standard setup. With the Pit Barrel set up, add your hooks into the pit barrel, as well as your digital thermometer - I recommend using the Meater+ for pit barrel cooks because there are no wires and makes it easy! With your pork loin hanging in the Pit Barrel Cooker, add a few pieces of cherry wood for smoking then close the lid and begin cooking.

Step #3
With your Pork Loin smoking away, begin to make your pineapple BBQ Sauce. Mix together all the ingredients and simmer over medium low heat for around 5 minutes to allow the BBQ sauce to thicken up slightly and condense the sugars. Once it has thickened slightly remove from the heat and let cool to room tempreture.
Step #4
Once your pork loin reaches around 135F open up the grill and brush on your pineapple bbq sauce all over then place the pork loin back in the pit barrel cooker to let the sauce set. When your smoked pork loin reaches 142F remove it from the smoker and let it rest. It will rest with a finishing temperature between 145F-147F and be INCREDIBLE juicy and delicious!
