Moist Semolina Cookies - Turkish Shekerpare Dessert Recipe
In this video,you will learn how to make quick and easy Turkish Şekerpare dessert.These sweet cookies are made from semolina.If you have a sweet tooth,you should give this semolina cookies a try.Şekerpare is one of the most popular desserts in Turkish cuisine.Follow our directions to make the best and easiest Shekerpare.There is an important rule to make the best Şekerpare.Make sure that Şekerpare cookies are hot (freshly baked) and the syrup is warm.
Preparation:
First of all,make a syrup to pour over Sekerpare cookies.For the syrup: Pour 2.5 cups of water in a cooking pot and add 2.5 cups of sugar.Cook them with mixing.Once it starts to boil,squeeze 1/4 of lemon and add in the syrup ,mix and let it cools down.
Meanwhile make Şekerpare cookies.Transfer the butter in bowl and add the powdered sugar,vegetable oil,eggs,vanilla sugar,coconut flakes and semolina.Keep mixing/kneading with adding flour and baking powder.Make a dough of earlobe consistency.Roll into balls and flatten them a bit.add a teaspoon of olive oil to egg yolk to give shine.We formed then into 2 different shapes.Brush them with the egg yolk and using a fork shape the top of cookies.Put a nut on the centre of other cookies.
Bake at 180C(360F) for 20-25 mins or until golden brown.Once you remove the cookies from oven,pour the warm syrup and it is ready to serve,enjoy!
-Ingredients for Şekerpare Cookies
100 g of Butter
100 ml of Vegetable Oil
2 Cups of Flour
2 Wggs
3 Tbsp of Powdered Sugar
2 Tbsp of Coconut Flakes
2 Tbsp of Semolina
1 Pck of Baking Powder
1 Pck of Vanilla Sugar
-Ingredients for The Syrup
2.5 Cups of Sugar
2.5 Cups of Water
1/4 Lemon
1 egg for brushing
Nuts and Pistachios for Decoration

Makes about 25 cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup (230g) Butter, softened
2 cups (250g) Flour
2/3 cup (85g) Powdered sugar
Optional additions:
Vanilla extract
Salt
Sugar for coating
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper, set aside.
2. In a large bowl cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add the flour and mix until combined. If the dough is too soft, add 2-3 tablespoons of flour
3. 2 ways to shape the cookies:
A. Shape the dough into a disk form, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. Then, roll out the dough into 1/4-inch (1/2cm) thick. Then, cut into desired shape (hearts, round, rectangle).
B. Roll the dough into a log shape, wrap it with plastic wrap and freeze for 30 minutes. Then, unwrap and slice the log into 1/4-inch (1/2cm) thick slices.
4. Transfer the cookies to the baking tray and bake for 12-15 minutes, until slightly golden.
5. Allow to cool.
Notes:
• Cookies can be stored in an airtight container up to 3 days.
• If the cookies are too soft, refrigerate for 30 minutes before baking

Semolina Cookies in Sugar Syrup | Sekerpareh Dessert | Turkish Cookie Recipe
Today let's learn to make some super tasty and moist Sekerpare. It is the name for semolina cookies soaked in sweet syrup. It is melting in your mouth and satisfies your sweet tooth wonderfully.
Sekerpare means a bit of sugar in Turkish. The recipe has three steps Making the syrup, baking the cookies, and combining these two.
►Ingredients
Sugar - 2 cup
Water - 2 cup
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 1/2 lemon
Eggs - 3
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Butter - 120 gms
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
Oil - 1/2 cup
Semolina - 1 cup
Baking Powder - 11/2 tsp
All-Purpose Flour - 2 1/2 cup
Egg Yolk - 1
Water - 1 tbsp
►Method
1. Make sugar syrup with sugar, water add cardamom powder and lemon.
2. To make the cookie dough with eggs, sugar, and beat well.
3. Add butter, oil, and beat it. Add semolina, all-purpose flour, Baking powder, and mix till it becomes soft.
4. Shape it into cookies, give egg wash, and bake at 170 degrees for 30 minutes.
