How To make Sourdough Strawberry Cake
-kyllikki fuller bhhj17b 1/2 ts -salt
2 c Flour
1/2 c Butter
3 ts Baking powder
2/3 c Sourdough starter
*
1/2 ts Nutmeg
1/2 c Heavy cream
3 tb Sugar
1 Egg
:
fruit topping 2 pt Strawberries :
hulled
1/4 c Sugar
whipped topping:
1 c Heavy cream
2 tb Amaretto
3 tb Sugar
Mix flour, baking powder, nutmeg, sugar and salt then cut in butter till it resembles corse meal. Then beat in starter, and 1/3 cup heavy cream and 1 egg together till well blended. Pour all at once into dry ingredients and mix together with fork until it holds together in a loose ball. Pat lightly into a greased and floured 9" round or 8" square pan. set aside to rest while preheating oven to 450F. when oven is to temp bake shortcake for 18 to 22 minutes until very lightly browned. Cool in pan. Turn out while still warm and slice in half horizontally. wash and hull strwberries and crush enough to make 1 cup mix with 1/4 c sugar spread on bottom layer of shortcake. Top
with half of; 1 c heavy cream, whipped with 3 T sugar and amaretto. Slice remaining berries and put about 1/3 of them on whipped cream. Top with remaining
shortcake and berries and remaining whipped cream. *If you don't do sourdough susstitute 2/3 c heavy cream for cream and sourdough starter.

Easter Brunch, Carrot Cake Waffle, Strawberry Lemon Waffle Recipe
Day 1
Both Batters have the same instructions on the first day.
Mix in
1 -2 Cups of Sourdough Discard
2 Cups of Milk (or Milk Keifer)
Stir until the Sourdough Discard Dissolves
Mix in
2 Cups of Flour
2 Tbsp of Sugar
Stir until completely mixed in
Let it sit Overnight
Day 2
Finish the Strawberry Lemon Waffle Batter
Mix in
Whisk 3 Eggs into a bowl then add to batter
1/4 Cup of melted Butter
1 Tsp of Vanilla
Add
1 Tsp of Baking Soda
1 Tsp of Salt
Finish the Carrot Cake Waffle Batter
Mix in
Whisk 3 Eggs into a bowl then add to batter
1/2 Cup of Oil or Butter
1 Tsp of Pumpkin Pie Spice
Mix in
1 Cup of Finely Graded Carrots
1 Tsp of Orange Zest
1 Tsp of Vanilla
1 Tsp of Baking Soda
1 Scant Tsp of Salt
Lemon Drizzle
Cream
8 oz of Cream Cheese
Mix in
1 1/2 Cups of Powdered Sugar
Mix in
1/4 Cup of Whipping Cream
Juice 2 Lemons
1 Lemon’s Zest
1 Tsp of Vanilla
Thoroughly Cream Together
Maple Cream Drizzle
Cream
8 oz of Cream Cheese
Mix in
1 Cup of Maple Syrup
Blend until Creamy
Serve Hot
Strawberry Lemon Waffles
Add Crushed Strawberries and the Lemon Drizzle

Learn how to make a cake using SOURDOUGH! Sourdough is not just for baking bread. This Sourdough Strawberry cake is amazing!! This is a discard recipe but active sourdough can be used to. Fresh strawberries are used but you can us frozen also.

This Sourdough Strawberry cake recipe is easy for a beginner to make. It uses fresh strawberries and strawberry Jello. The Jello is what gives the cake its beautiful color. If you choose you can omit the jello altogether. You won't have as much strawberry flavor, but that is ok. I use sourdough discard in this recipe. If you do not have sourdough starter please watch this video next.
How to make sourdough starter -
Sourdough Strawberry Cake
2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sourdough discard
3/4 cup melted coconut oil
3/4 cup melted butter (I have omitted the coconut oil and used 1 cup butter also)
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 t baking soda
2 t vanilla
1/2 t salt
3 eggs (large)
1 small pkg strawberry jello (optional, this adds lots of flavor and color)
1 3/4 cups chopped macerated strawberrys (fresh or frozen)
Stir first 4 ingredients together and let sit out on counter for 2 - 4 hours. or overnight in refrigerator.
Blend above dough with sugars, baking soda, vanilla. Add 1 egg at a time making sure they are blended in between each. This allows your batter to become light and fluffy.
Fold in jello and 3/4 cups strawberries.
Pour into greased and floured bundt pan
Bake at 375 for 35 - 45 mins.
Turn out immediately after the oven. Let cook and drizzle glaze over the top.
Glaze
2 cups powdered sugar
2 T melted Butter
1/2 cup strawberries
1 t vanilla (optional)

50 grams Whole Wheat Flour (any unbleached flour will work)
50 grams Water (90 F, bottled or filtered)
SOURDOUGH BREAD RECIPE ►
300 grams Bread Flour
100 grams All Purpose Flour
100 grams Whole Wheat Flour
400 grams Water (room temperature, bottled or filtered)
