TARRAGON OYSTER STRAIN FEATURE, Grow Notes and Taste Test
Grow Notes for Tarragon Oyster, Pleurotus euosmus (Mycelium Emporium):
- Best quality fruit bodies grew on 5% wheat bran supplemented HWFP (blend of maple, cherry, and hickory)
- Colonization and fruiting temps 63 F
- Good yields on buckwheat hull substrate, but more mutants (possibly nitrogen too high)
- Fast colonizer, also very fast and aggressive to pin so initiate pinning early
- Very mild flavor and firm texture, similar to P. eryngii in my opinion

My first growing experience with Tarragon Oyster (Pleurotus euosmus) from Mycelium Emporium. This strain from the UK does actually smell herby like tarragon and is highly regarded as one of the best tasting oyster mushrooms. I share my growing notes and we put it to a taste test against our current favorite Bratislavian Blue oyster strain. After I stopped filming, I tried both of them as well and I agree with my wife 100%. The tarragons were very mild, firm, and nutty, similar to P. eryngii I think. I understand some people may prefer this quality depending on how they are preparing it. But, if you enjoy the flavor of tree oyster mushrooms, which to me have a bit of an anise undertone, the Brat Blues are where it's at. They are oyster all the way, with top notch texture and flavor.
