Instructions
00:00 Introduction
Oven method
00:12 Preheat oven to 350F (175C).
00:29 Spread 1-2 cups of pecans evenly over an ungreased baking sheet (note that nuts may toast faster on dark baking sheets and slower on light-colored ones).
00:48 Place baking sheet with pecans in 350F (175C) preheated oven and toast for 4 minutes. Remove from oven and use a spatula to stir/turn pecans. Return to oven for another 4 minutes.
00:53 Remove baking sheet from oven. Nuts should smell toasty and will be very slightly deepened in color once finished baking. If yours are not yet, return baking sheet to the oven in 2 minute increments, stirring in between, until pecans are toasted.
01:34 Allow to cool before using as desired.
Stovetop Method
Place a medium-sized skillet over medium heat.
Working with 1 cup of nuts at a time, add nuts and stir frequently until nuts are toasted (deepened in color and you can smell a nutty, toasty aroma, about 5 minutes).
Notes
Chopped pecans
I recommend toasting pecan halves and then chopping after baking. Unfortunately chopped pecans are less likely to toast evenly and are more likely to burn. However, if you only have chopped pecans on hand you can use this method but check and stir the pecans after 3 minutes.
Adding oil, butter, or salt
If desired, toss pecans with oil or melted butter and salt (1 Tablespoon oil or butter and salt to taste for each cup of pecans) before toasting. Nuts will appear dry when finished toasting. This is great for snacking pecans but usually not necessary if you are using the toasted pecans in a recipe.

Storing
After toasting pecans they will keep in an airtight container in a cool dry location for at least two weeks.

Toast Pecans in Oven: Toasted Pecans 3 Ways
Headline: Toast Pecans in Oven! You can eat pecans raw, you can fuss with complicated recipes, BUT this video explains how to make toasted pecans 3 ways. They taste better than raw and they'll be ready faster than most other recipes for pecans. I'm betting that, like me, you will fall in love with the Rosemary Spiced Pecans. They are the perfect combination of spicy and sweet, salty and savory. You can serve them straight out of the oven as an appetizer, have them on standby as a nutritious snack or package some of them up as a hostess gift. Pecans made this way tend to be popular at the holidays, but I make them all year round. If you would like to learn how to toast nuts, these are the best methods to use! You don't have to stick to pecans because all three of these methods work with any nut or mix of nuts.
If you'd rather not do any cooking today, you could try these raw, no-bake energy balls, also made with pecans: chickpea.link/PecanBalls.

How to Toast Pecans:
• Dry, in oil or follow the recipe below.
• For all of these options, cook on cookie pan at 350F for 5-10 minutes, checking after 5 and 8 minutes.
Rosemary Spiced Pecans:
Ingredients:
2 ½ cups pecans
2 tbs vegan butter
At least 2 heaping tbs fresh rosemary, finely chopped
1 tsp cumin
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
1-2 tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
1 tbs date sugar
1 ½ tsp maple syrup
Preparation:
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium sized mixing bowl, stir together the pecans, cumin, cayenne, salt, pepper and date sugar.
3. Melt the butter in a medium sized sauté pan at medium low heat. Stir in the chopped rosemary and cook for about a minute.
4. Remove from heat and stir in maple syrup.
5. Add the pecan mixture to the pan and stir to completely coat.
6. Preheat oven to 350F.
7. Transfer all the mixed together ingredients to the baking sheet. Spread them out so they're in a single layer.
8. Bake 5-10 minutes or until they a little chewy when you test. You can shake the pan part way through to help them get more evenly cooked. Don't overcook - there's an aftercook too when they're cooling on the pan.
9. Allow the pecans to cool on the pan completely or serve them warm!
