How To make American Style Strata
12 sl Sourdough bread -- or
6 sl Whole-grain bread
halved
1 3/4 cups Mozzarella or Monterey Jack :
shred
1 1/2 cups Cooked beef, lamb or pork
cut bite-size 1 cup Carrot or zucchini shred
4 Eggs
2 cups Milk
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon Ground black pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire
1 teaspoon Dried thyme leaves :
crumble
1 teaspoon Dried basil leaves -- crumble
In a 10x6x2 baking dish, layer bread slices to cover bottom of dish. Sprinkle cheese, meat and veggies over bread. In a bowl, stir togeteher the eggs, milk and seasonings till well mixed. Pour carefully over ingredients in baking dish. Cover. Let stand 1 hour at room temperature or in fridge for longer periods. Uncover. Bake 325~ for 50 to 60 minutes or until center is nearly set. Let stand 10 minutes. Cut into squares.

6 Slices White Bread
1 1/2 Cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
2 Eggs
1 1/2 Cups Whole Milk
1/2 TSP Salt
14 TSP Pepper
1/2 TSP Paprika
1/2 TSP Dry Mustard
Set oven to 350. Grease 8 in baking dish and lay 3 slices of bread (cut if needed) to fit the entire bottom. Top with half of the cheese. Lay the 3 remaining slices of bread over. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over cheese and bread. Top with remaining cheese. Place baking dish inside a larger baking dish and pour hot water into larger dish being careful not to pour water into the bread and cheese. Bake 45 minutes until dish is puffy. Carefully remove from oven and then water. Enjoy!!

1 bunch scallions, trimmed and sliced
8 ounces sliced mushrooms such as cremini or shiitake
8 ounces sausage meat, sweet or hot
12 ounces day-old enriched bread (such as brioche or challah), cubed or torn into ¾-inch-thick pieces
6 large eggs
2 ½ cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon mustard, grainy or Dijon
3 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded and divided
1 teaspoon fresh thyme, roughly chopped
¾ teaspoon kosher salt
¾ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
