Low Carb Sauerkraut Chicken Recipe
Our Low Carb Sauerkraut Chicken Recipe made with Homemade Sauerkraut, and Homemade Greek Yogurt is a perfect healthy low carb dinner recipe you can make in no time. Fully Keto, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, and Diabetic Friendly, this chicken and sauerkraut can be used even as a part of your Meal Plan. This Low Carb dish gives us additional vitamins with its unique taste.

Ingredients
0,5 kilograms (17 oz) Chicken Breasts
1 kilogram (35 oz) Sauerkraut
5 Tablespoons Greek Yogurt
1 Onion
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
Salt & Pepper
Instructions
Prepare all ingredients for our delicious sauerkraut chicken dish. Chop onion into tiny pieces and cut your chicken into smaller cubes.
Into the cooking pot, add a scoop of coconut oil, and let it melt. Into it, add your chopped onion, and cook on medium heat until it caramelizes.
Once the onion is caramelized, add your chicken pieces, salt, pepper, and cook for approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
Add your sauerkraut with the liquid as well. Mix it and close the lid. Cook on medium heat for approximately 20 to 25 minutes until your sauerkraut is cooked.

Once the yogurt is in, there is no need to cook your chicken sauerkraut dish anymore. Gently mix everything and serve immediately.
Notes
Chicken - I have used chicken breasts, but you can use any part of the chicken you like the most
Spices - you can add the seasoning of your choice. Perfect is Smoked Paprika, which gives this sauerkraut dish a beautiful bright orange color.
Yogurt - can be replaced with sour cream

Today I'm going to share with you how to make old fashioned Sauerkraut and Smoked Sausage (weenies) So, grab all of your items and cook along with me. RECIPE BELOW

Ingredients you'll need:
• 1 14oz Package of Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage Rope
• 2 14.5oz cans of Del Monte Sauerkraut - I used 1 1/2 cans for this recipe
• 2 - 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
Instructions:
• Add 2 - 3 tablespoons of olive oil to your frying pan
• Preheat pan with oil while slicing sausage
• Remove sausage from packaging
• Slice sausage into 1/2 - 1 inch thick slices
• Add sausage slices to preheated frying pan
• Brown sausage slices to your desired preference
• Once sausage is fully browned, add your 1 1/2 cans of sauerkraut to the frying pan | Do not remove grease before adding sauerkraut - Drain any water that may be in your cans before adding to pan
• Heat sausage & sauerkraut until thoroughly heated and sauerkraut absorbs all grease from pan

My family loves Oven Baked Chicken and Sauerkraut
We are celebrating my daughter, Katherine's birthday. Uncle Dan's famous homemade canned sauerkraut came just in time to for it to be the family meal. I don't know the ingredients in his secret recipe but you can make this dish with saurerkraut at the grocery store. I prefer the kind found in a bag in the refrigerated section. Be sure to drain and rinse it to get a more homemade flair.
Ingredients
1 or more bags of saurerkraut
1 whole chicken
4 or more large sliced mushrooms
1 can chicken broth
olive oil
Seasoning: kosher salt, pepper, rosemary, garlic, cajun seasoning
Directions:
Heat oven to 350 to 400
When using store bought kraut, I add minced garlic, caraway seed and same seasonings as above to the kraut before adding to the casserole dish.
Mix seasonings together is a bowl. 1 T salt, 1/2 T pepper, 1 T Rosemary & Garlic, 1/2 T cajun seasoning
rub olive oil on outside of chicken then pat seasoning all over. Put in casserole dish then add kraut with seasonings already mixed in. Add sliced mushrooms on top. Pour about 1/3 cup of chicken broth in the dish. Cover and cook until chicken reaches internal temp of 165 degrees.
Depending on size of chicken, it can take 2-4 hours. My chicken ended up taking 4 hours to cook at 350. I don't think I'll ever convince Dan to share his recipe but store bought kraut is 2nd best and still very yummy. The saurerkraut is gone quick in my family! To make it go further, I make mashed potatoes. When you plate the food, put the kraut on top of the mashed potatoes . My mouth is already watering for more!
