4 ounces Baker's german sweet chocolate
= or = 4 squares Baker's semisweet chocolate
broken into pieces
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/3 can sugar
1 can light or dark corn syrup
3 eggs :
slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cups pecan halves
1 unbaked pie shell
Microwave chocolate and margarine in microwave bowl on high 1-2 minutes or until margarine is melted, stirring halfway through heating time. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Stir in sugar, syrup, eggs and vanilla until well blended. Stir in pecans. Pour into pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until filling is firm 2 inches from?20 the edge. Cool on a wire rack.

Recipe
Makes 1 pie:
2 cups pecans
3 large eggs
3/4 cups dark brown sugar
2/3 cups golden syrup or light corn syrup
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
2 tbsp. unsalted butter
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cups Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1 frozen pie crust
20 whole pecans
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place the pecans on a baking sheet and toast for about 8 minutes, until lightly browned and fragrant. Let cool and then chop coarsely (if desired).
2. Using a double boiler, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter together. Set aside to cool.
3. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, brown sugar, golden or corn syrup, vanilla, and salt until blended. Stir in melted chocolate, butter mixture, and the pecans until evenly distributed.
4. Pour the filling into the frozen pie shell and arrange the whole pecans on top. Bake on the bottom shelf of the oven for about 50 minutes, or until the filling has just set (it should still be a little wobbly when gently shaken). If the edges are browning too quickly while baking, wrap foil around the crust. Let the pie cool on a wire rack for about 1 hour before serving.

This XL-sized pie lets you serve your whole crew—no matter how many uninvited guests show up at Thanksgiving.
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Layer pie crusts like you would a venn diagram, so they overlap largely in the middle. Use a rolling pin to flatten out the center, until you’ve created a rectangle large enough to fill the bottom and sides of a 13”x9” pan. Place crust in pan, smoothing out any tears or folds to get it to fit the shape of the pan.
3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk brown sugar, corn syrup, and eggs. Fold in 1 c chocolate chips and pecans. Pour mixture in pan, creating a smooth layer. Bake for 25-27 minutes, or until the pecan mixture has turned a deep golden brown and has mostly set in the center. Cool, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
4. Before serving, heat remaining chocolate chips in the microwave in 25-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted. Drizzle atop pie, then cut into bars.
