1 1/2 c Sifted flour 1 ts Baking soda 1 ts Salt 1 c Shortening 3/4 c Brown sugar 3/4 c White sugar 1 ts Vanilla 6 oz Chocolate chips 2 Eggs 1 ts Hot water 2 c Oatmeal Cream sugars and shortening well. Add eggs and blend. Add baking soda to hot water. Stir and add to mixture. Add remaining ingredients. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. -----
