How To make Granny Cake
2 c Flour
1/2 c Sugar
1 ts Salt
1 ts Soda
2 Eggs, beaten
1 cn Pineapple, with juice
1/2 c Brown sugar
1/2 c Nuts
Sift together flour, sugar, salt and soda. Mix well with 2 eggs, pineapple with juice. Pour into greased 9x13 inch pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of brown sugar and nuts. Bake for 35 minutes at 325 degrees. Topping on other side: Brin to boil 1/2 cup of white sugar, 1 ts vanilla, 1 stick of margarine, 1 cup of Milnot. Pour over cake while hot. Old Time Granny Cake Recipe ~ Crushed Pineapple & Pecans
INGREDIENTS:
Cake:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 large eggs
1 (20oz.) can crushed pineapple with juice
Topping:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup crushed/chopped pecans
Icing:
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Farenheit. Grease 9x13 pan with butter or spray oil.
For the cake, in a large bowl mix flour, sugar, salt and baking soda together.
Add room temperature eggs and crushed pineapple with juice.
Mix until incorporated.
Pour batter into greased pan adn top with an even layer of pecans and brown sugar.
Place pan in center rack of oven and bake for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick nserted in center comes out clean.
While cake is cooking, combine evaporated milk, sugar and butter in a medium saucepan over medium high heat and bring to a boil.
Remove from the heat and stir in vanilla extract, then pour over hot cake.
Let cake cool to room temperature so it absorbs icing.
Cut into slices and serve.
Store in refrigerator.
Enjoy.

Today on Ganache & Fondant we're making delicious yellow cake from scratch! We call this cake a Granny Cake because this recipe has been in our family for over 100 years from great-great-granny all the way down to Ganache! We made this yellow cake with chocolate icing using this original recipe.
This delicious yellow cake recipe from scratch was a blast to make- it reminded us of Yolanda Gampp and How To Cake It. The chocolate icing is from scratch as well. We love baking like this.

Grandma's Sponge Cake

8 oz butter softened (1 cup or 2 sticks)
1 and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 tbsp vanilla extract / mixed essence
orange or lemon zest
1 and 3/4 cup of cake flour
1/2 cup of whole milk
1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1 tbsp melted butter for pan ( sorry In recipe video i said about 2 tbsp but 1 tbsp is all you need )
2 to 3 tbsp flour for pan
Keep cake covered when storing to retain moisture and freshness.
